Sentimental Hydrangea Dying: what's the variety?

Hello everyone. With the harsh snow this winter, the hydrangea my grandmother planted got destroyed. It was planted probably some time in the 80s, in Ontario Canada zone 5b. I'm wondering if anyone is very good with hydrangea varieties and can help me identify it. It's a paniculata...

Does an A-frame coop/run need a real floor or can it be open air?

They've actually just finished. It was white rock Cornish crosses, and there were 20. They sure liked eating, haha. Made it easy to move though because they had 12 hours on 12 hours off food. They'd run to the feeder so the tractor could be dragged along.

I did end up building a tractor for my broilers, it looks like this:

    Tacticoop Design: embrace the box

Hey! I fixed the hasps with some bolts with washers and wing nuts! It works super well and keeps stuff tight so weasels can't get in. For final photos, I got the run and everything put up! I put roofing underlay on the top piece of OSB (it's like plywood) so it's waterproof. I put a tarp on...

Large Rooster, smaller hens, is he going to hurt them?

He looks even bigger when roosting. Look at him next to the hens on the bar. He's taking half the bar, and the four hens are taking the other half haha. I've only got the four hens, which I'm hoping is enough for him.

Can I Remove a Roosting Bar?

The chicken math, it got me! Copper the rooster joins in. They're still all on the one bar though, haha. He's taken half the bar to himself.

Large Rooster, smaller hens, is he going to hurt them?

Here's a photo I just took. Copper and the hen on the right are the same distance from the camera so this photo is a good representation of their size difference. And another angle

Large Rooster, smaller hens, is he going to hurt them?

Hello! I picked up a rooster (named Copper, a barnyard mic) recently to join my flock. My pullets (red sex link) are about 6 months old, and he is about a year old. I noticed that he's significantly bigger than my hens. I saw him looking to cover one and when he did, he used his feet to...

Why will none of my pullets sleep in their coop?

They're so cute in a big cuddle puddle on the ground. We've been picking ours up from outside and putting them on the roosts for the last few days, and they're finally going in the coop and up on the roost themselves.

Can I Remove a Roosting Bar?

They're both removable! They sit in between some wood chunks to keep them in place. What are some signs I should add the back bar in again if I take it out? You can see how the bars sit here

Can I Remove a Roosting Bar?

The whole roof props up! We're still getting 35f temperatures overnight at times. In the summer I'm going to put a 2x4 under the top panel of the roof and the whole thing will tilt up for ventilation. That's why the hardware cloth is on the inside. The front looks like this: And is all open...

Can I Remove a Roosting Bar?

Hello! My coop is 4' x 8'. I currently have two roosting bars at the back of the coop, 18" apart. I read that you should have 12" of roosting bar length for each chicken. However, all four of my hens are on less than half of one of the bars. They've slept like this the last few days in a row...

Help! Too much "play" in my coop access doors, raccoon risk?

So in this case the whole top plank pivots into place to block the doors? And the middle piece is used to get the spacing right? I used a threaded link thing like a locking carabinier on the hasp. I hear they're super crafty, especially in my area.

Help! Too much "play" in my coop access doors, raccoon risk?

One issue is that I'm hoping to hinge the top door too. I could add more latches around the outside edges of the doors, but I don't think there's a spot for me to put them on the inside edges.

Help! Too much "play" in my coop access doors, raccoon risk?

I'm trying to think of where they could go. What piece of hardware do you mean when you say a latch?

Help! Too much "play" in my coop access doors, raccoon risk?

Hello! I need some help in fixing my coop access doors. It has two doors that hinge down and are closed with a hasp. My problem is that even with the hasp closed, there is too much "play" in the doors which I'm worried will allow raccoons or least weasels to get in: The middle pulls away a...

Fair enough! I was mostly interested in what a 100% guarantee meant, since I hadn't heard of that before.
