She is middle of the red in pecking order. She does let others lay in her nest while setting. I have tried to relocate her with her eggs, but she abandons them. I wish I would have taken the eggs yesterday and let them hatch inside.
I put some large eggs under a broody bantam. Yesterday they were pipping and had strong peeps. This morning I went out and found them squashed and dead. They were big, strong and healthy. Should I have removed mom and eggs? I am sick about it.
There were 3 eggs, now there's 2 and a chick :) Kinda bummed I took the other eggs away. Next year she gets to keep them.
Do I need to separate her and the chicks?
I am going to check today. I didn't want to spook her. It's 104 here today so if she gets off the eggs, I should be able to deal with them. I have the pen protected well on the bottom.
She is still sitting! I don't even know if she's on any eggs or how many. I'm sure theirs not many because I was collecting them. I was under the impression that they didn't get broody.
I checked my eggs at day 3 and somehow the turner gorgeous unplugged :( Today, day 7 I have development, but it looks like on one side only. Is there anything I can do?

Does anyone gave any experience with a broody red golden? She has been setting for 3 days. Will she stay full term?
So excited that everyone in my hands on hatch pipped and survived! 10 shipped eggs, 6 banties and 2 pheasants. Everyone got assigned to a broody plus 5 eggs that needed a little more time under a hen. :)
So glad I found this thread! I hatched 2 Red Goldens and my leg bars are pipping. The pheasants are the devil lol. I had to take them out. They started pecking into the holes of the pipped eggs.
I've had temp issues and air cell issues due to shipping, but I think it's going to be ok with a...
