Hello Everyone! I'm from Jonesboro as well! I'm looking for some hens if anyone wants to sell! I like silkies, frizzles, houdans, or any "pet" type of chicken!
She is still doing good. She is eating a lot more than I thought she would.
I am having my grandma make her a saddle. I dont have any roosters so im not too worried about that. Im worried about her trying to dust bathe so I thought the saddle would help keep dirt out of the wound. However, I...
Thank you, CMV for all your help. She survived the night. I gave her sugar water and sprayed the wounds with the Vetericyn last night and again this morning. I put some food in the cage for her just in case she got hungry and she did! Some of it was gone this morning so shes still eating.
Okay. I am going to use the Vetericyn to clean the wound just because it has a spray cap and I don't have a turkey baster.
I gave her plain water earlier and she drank a bunch of it. I am trying to get a bigger cage tonight so that I can give her more room. Plus, im afraid she will spill her...
Thank you sooo much! *sigh of relief*
I just got back from our Tractor Supply. I bought things that I thought would help. I read from another post that someone used the Electrolyte powder for the water so I got some of that. However, she was very healthy before this so I may just start with...
...no local vet that works with chickens and plus its after hours. The hen is still alert and standing. She dropped a shell with no egg soon after putting her in my patio.
Someone please tell me she has some hope of living. She's my best hen. *crying* I will do anything to help save her, just...
I am really really new to the whole incubation process! I have been thinking very hard about what I could put my eggs in so that it won't be such a mess after the hatch. I've been reading on the internet that it can be really messy and I am sort of a perfectionist with my stuff. I like to keep...
Update:
Just want to update for future people who may have this problem. My hen seems to be doing really well. I am now TOTALLY against heat lamps. They did just fine the following day when the low was 4 degrees. I think the plastic sheeting and tarps that I wrapped the coop in made a big...
I went to check on my chickens this morning and noticed that my Houdan hen was missing feathers. At first I thought my other hen was picking on her since I just recently bought this hen, but then I saw that there were feathers stuck to our red heat lamp. Apparently, my husband either put the...
Ok, thanks for the tips. Ive ordered one of those hygrometers. I just wish I would have known that before I started the incubation process. I hope they arent ruined because of too much humidity. I think I over filled those water channels. I was assuming the more humidity the better but boy was I...
I know this is off topic but im new to incubating eggs and im confused. I have some silkie eggs in a brand new LG (still air) incubator, day 2. It didnt come with a manual and ive been reading that some people are taking those red plugs out. Should I be doing this? I dont have a hygrometer but...
I adopted a Houdan hen last night to accompany my Frizzle hen. I named her Penelope so that's what I will refer her too. I guess I'm just not used to looking at a different chicken or just my little knowledge on chickens, I'm not sure, but she looks unhealthy to me. My frizzle hen is just now 6...
Okay! Thank you so much for the information. Like I said, I am a newbie to having chickens and I am learning as I go!
I was just confused on why my rooster is jumping/chasing her. Surely he isn't trying to mate her this early, right? Or my thought was that he may be trying to show whose...
Can someone help me figure out if my frizzle chick is a rooster? I'm not very familiar with this breed or chickens in general.
If the lady I got these from was correct on their age, then they should be almost 3 months old. However, the rooster on the left just started being vocal this morning...
Okay. I have been giving my chicks the powder form of Duramycin daily in their water for two weeks. However, I have been giving approximately 1/8 of a teaspoon in their quart of water and I have seen no progress. Every other day or so I have to clean their nose due to it getting clogged with...
Ok. I have been giving my chick some TLC and even putting some apple cider vinegar in their water in hopes that it was just their new environment that was causing the sneezing. However, it has been longer than a week and now they both have this "cold" or whatever it is. The constantly sneeze and...
