One of my favourite hens just died suddenly. I’m heartbroken, and I grabbed a couple of her last eggs and put them under my broody hen who is sitting on Duck eggs. She’s only been on them a couple of days so the chicks will be hatching first. Can I pull the eggs out as soon as they start...
Yes there is another roo, they have lived together since they were chicks never any problems, but I suppose it is that time of year.
Its a bit of a stop-gap measure because we are trying to feed non GMO and the only one we could find became unavailable, but I guess GMO is better than this… I’ll...
Shoot, I wonder why that would happen! I will thanks!
Yes. He was actually bought as a hen but… turns out nope!!
he gets whole oats and rolled barley, not fantastic I know…
When I went out this morning my 2 year old Bluebell cock was dragging his leg. Wont put any weight on at all. I couldn’t feel a break or anything. What could be going on? He’s in great form still hopping up for his breakfast…
This little guy has decided he’s joining my flock apparently. No idea where he’s from, he just turned up and is sticking around!
He’s a quail, right? He’s smaller than the hens and makes a soft uwhuh uwhuh sound.
What do I feed him?? Can he stay with the hens? They are ignoring his mostly...

So it got me thinking, maybe I could get ducks?
They would be kept separate...
I have a Coryza infected flock.
I can’t decide what to do.
I’m too fond of them to cull.
Do I let them die out naturally, then start again with clean stock?
Do I vaccinate new birds, and continue selling hatching eggs like I was? Can I even sell hatching eggs?
Is it stupid to expand a...
Shut them in a shed or cage. Grab them one at a time and firmly grip them around their bodies and wings. Then I usually stick my thumb in the top of the beak, my syringe goes at the back corner and squirt.
I have had gapeworm in my flock… hope they get better OP
Not great update 🙁 she’s refusing all food and water and mucus is pouring from eyes, nose and beak.
I checked in my drug cabinet - I have pain relief and an antibiotic that was originally for a sick Guinea pig, (which died so never opened) and what I believe is an antibiotic from 2 years ago...
Hi, thank you for the reply!
This hen in particular has gotten over it once, so hopefully she can beat it again. I will have to go into the vets and see if they would prescribe them for me if she gets worse.
