My other broody chose a nesting box in summer, which is comfortable, and sensible... I had no idea the cold hard ground in the middle of winter would appeal! :th
Have blocked things off. Will be taking further action just as soon as it warms up a little!
Not bossy - I appreciate the input. We have tried to get her before but she’s stubborn. This is her first time being broody and I underestimated her determination.
I don’t think I have anything with electrolytes but we did bring her inside to observe. She’s eating and drinking. Once she’s back...
I got her but couldn’t grab her friend - who to be fair is bigger and better feathered than she is. But still.
The broody one looks really dehydrated. She didn’t stop drinking for a full 15 minutes after I got her.
I’ve got a broody Orpington in a spot in the run I can’t reach, and who won’t budge, even though it’s been below freezing. We’ve got wind chill coming tonight putting temps -10–20 degrees. I’ve tried blocking off the run a bit so she’s protected, and I’ve noticed she has a Cochin friend now...
Hi - flock are all moulting and my hybrid layers got extra grouchy and tore into my Welsummer so I fear we may have caught this too late.
The video is our Easter Egger, Mallie. We love her eggs but she is also my daughters pet. She’s always been a bit of a piglet when it comes to food...
Just thought I'd see if there is any interest: I have a black and silver Easter Egger rooster (sold as an Aracauna/Ameraucana at Murdoch's). He is 7 weeks old, currently resides in Littleton. Sweet and good-looking, he just needs a place to crow. Happy to send pics. (Cross posting in the...

It's me again. I'm pretty confident Daphne is a Dabney.
He's only 5 weeks old, so looks wise: plumage isn't a great tell, he is black/silver which I've heard can sometimes indicate a rooster, but his comb has gotten much bigger and much redder over the last week. His legs are thicker than the...
I dunno - I think I have the same set up as she does and it's a huge space with a lot of room around the MHP. (Or maybe my MHP is smaller?) Could they not get out from under the towel on top or was it a corner issue?
...a higher side and lower side, and they all find a comfortable place to sleep.
The only thing lacking in our flock right now is Australorps (cough*chickenmath) and you bet I'd do it this way again!
Thanks again for all the information and help available in this thread. It has been invaluable!
