Thank you, I'm happy it healed up. Idk if it had anything to do with my doctoring or not. It was like it's tendons were drawn up and it was walking on fists. It may have done the same without my tape after some time, but I couldn't help myself after waiting so long, paying so much AND only two...
I need to get some good updated pics of my Black Coppers. I've never had a group of chickens so laid back. I love that about them.
Here's a couple new chicks... Blue Coppers from Harvey Moore. Had a terrible hatch and it was late... but at least I have a couple. The chick with white wings had...
They aren't too old. The younger they are, the more you have to make sure they don't "heal" up. You will still need to keep an eye on them. Maybe pick it out if it tries to close up. The younger they are, more trouble I seem to have keeping them clear. I like the option, but prefer leg bands...
I know what you mean. It would be nice to find a way to make a little something from them, but after all these years I've yet to figure that out..lol.
I'm happy for you....even though I kinda wish I'd have remembered the auction..haha.
cj is great to work with! I hatched some of her 55's and...
I completely understand your concern. It's best to keep an eye on things and try to get ahead of any issues. It can be hard to diagnose problems with a picture and description sometimes. With what I see, I agree with the others concerning it's crop. You are there in person and may see something...
Unless she is acting sick, leave the poor thing alone. She doesn't need her crop massaged. It's like your stomach. It gets bigger the more you eat. It's normal. Chicks tend to have a little runny poo. If it's acting ok....it's probably ok.
The first thing I noticed to differentiate them was wing feather color. Cockerels were really dark. Pullets are lighter. I can't remember if I took pics or not. Ill check to see if I have any from this age.
@Kassaundra, I've never seen a naked chicken. Really cool. I admit I've only browsed a few pages of this thread. Is this something you've bred for? ...just happens sometimes with NNs?
NN was one of my first chickens as a child. Always been attracted to them for some reason..lol
Is it only considered parasitic, if it's still there after first molt? What if a 4-5 month old has a white wing feather, but it doesn't show after first molt?
Just trying to learn.
I just remembered that I forgot to remember to post about my dealings with @cjwaldon. So while I'm remembering and before I forget to remember again, ill do so now.
I won her last 55 Flowery auction and purchased some Isabelle Leghorn eggs. Her packing, shipping and communication is awesome...
