A couple days ago I was surprised with 2 Easter eggs! And then got 2 more yesterday! I've not-so-patiently waited for my Easter eggers to start laying for the last 24 weeks and it's finally happening🤣 I could not contain my excitement lol
So as some of you know, back in February I got 6 orpingtons and 6 olive eggers from Tractor Supply. Out of the 6 olive eggers, one of them was very different from the other 5. I thought maybe Smoky was just a different mix of olive egger but now I'm not so sure. The reason being, for the past 3...
I've had a golf ball in the nesting boxes for almost a week and they still prefer to lay their eggs under them... I'm probably going to put the boxes on the ground and see if that helps!
Nnoooo lol😂 I was just excited to see 2 eggs! This is my first time raising chickens and I've only had one pullet laying eggs every other day. I've been wondering when her fellow flock members were going to start laying as well since they are the same age (minus the easter eggers, they are are...
I was on the phone with my husband when I went back out to get the one egg. When I walked in the coop I said "oh my gosh! No freaking way!!" 🤣 I was so so so excited😂
They are 😔 we got our olive eggers from tractor supply... kinda sad that they are labeled olive eggers when they are laying brown eggs... I know sometimes that can happen but I have 6 olive eggers and if they all lay brown eggs then maybe hoover's hatchery shouldn't label them as olive eggers...
So I went out to the chicken coop probably about an hour and a half ago. While I was out there, I checked for eggs (there were none) and cleaned out their water container... I noticed one of my olive egger pullets acting funny... she was being very vocal and going back and forth from the water...
Sooo I stand corrected! It's actually one of our olive eggers that is laying eggs... I saw her lay one just now... but I'm kinda sad because, well, she's an olive egger and not laying olive colored eggs. I hope at least 1 of the 6 olive eggers we have lays an olive egg or I will be sad 😔
I would also check them for lice/mites but if you don't see anything wrong with them and they are acting normal then they are probably molting... what are you feeding them? I would up their protein intake because feathers have a high percentage of protein.. they need that extra protein in their...
Oh ok! Sorry about that! I don't have any turkeys yet so I can't tell you from experience but hopefully someone here will be able to give you better advice :)
