    Thoughts on goat scurs?

I just took my doeling in for surgery today. The original vet did a terrible job. She's my favorite and I'm hoping for a smooth recovery for her.

    2015 New York Chickenstock

I'm really excited for Chickenstock! I'm in Boonville so very close by. Gramma Chick, I'd be interested in the purple cone flowers. Things I'm hoping to get... 2 plum trees (can't remember who has those), some EE pullets, plants and herbs. Maybe 2 piglets.

    baby chicks

They usually die because they don't have room and can't get out of the egg. There has been a couple of people that have posted about hatching twins and it took intervention to get the chicks out. It was pretty cool though.

Anyway to find out what sex my day olds will be?

Well, nothing is fool proof, but from my experience my biggest chick turned out to be a male. Some people hold the chick upside down and figure the one's that struggle are roosters.

Protecting the combs on my roos and hens

I've read on a few breeders sites that you can put vaseline on their combs to help protect them from frostbite. I like your sig. The fluffier they are the funnier it gets. I've got a cochin rooster and when he comes running for a treat... oh. my. gosh. it's funny!

What are the different reasons for feather loss?

Here's the website that I bought them from. Basically they're plastic blinders that clip in their nostrils and keep them from looking straight ahead... at the other chicken's tempting feathers. They can still see down to eat and can get on their roosts...

What are the different reasons for feather loss?

In my case I had a huge problem with my chickens picking and sometimes eating each others feathers. At one point almost all of them were half naked (they had feathers only on their neck, shoulders, and wings) which looked awful. I bought pinless peepers and they've feathered out beautifully...

    Peeling fresh boiled eggs

You can let them age a couple of weeks before boiling. Also according to this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=24428&p=8 you should add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the water before cooking.

    I have a broody BO

I would think that they will be fine together. I had a BO go broody last year and I didn't put anything under her. I hope she does again this year, cuz she'll be getting some eggs!

PLEASE HELP!! Our Pet Chickens Keep Dying!!! :(

I'm so sorry! Could they possibly be getting into something they shouldn't be eating? We lost a chicken and realized after the fact that it was probably from eating insulation. It's odd that so many are dying and not showing any symptoms.
