I previously owned 3 black Australorp's. they were my first chickens 5 years ago. One died after a year, not sure why the other two lived anther 4 years or more and then recently died within a few months. One was attached by a hawk and she didn't make it. before the last one past I picked up...
I've not seen mites on either chicken no scratching seen. I'm wondering if maybe she's staying cool from the really hot summer by putting her head in the water but i only see her resting on the water cup at night. she also has not gone to roost every night even though i have the doors open to...
this the same style. and I only have two chickens the other is less dominant and has not pecked at her at all. sometimes when i go out in the evening just before they roost she will have her neck or head resting or on the water cup. I'm in Phoenix AZ its hot and this has been a really hot...
meant to add info. I have 2 black Australorp they are just over two. Healthy happy and great egg layers. But this is a first what causes this? Only change has been some heat increase.
And they will molt every year?
also if it daylight wouldn’t the amount of daylight they need be more definable. Like once there are X number of hours they will lay again? Seems so random
I’m in Phx Az so I assume the girls molt later. one is done the other seems close. It’s been a month and no eggs. Pretty normal? Could it go much longer until the days go longer?
Water is 100% shaded under citrus tree. I scrub every Friday when I clean their yard and coop. Yes chlorine in the tap water for sure. Our dogs drink pool water. They have fresh and drink that to but if they are cruising by the pool they’ll take a drink. Aside from the third eye they grew...
Getting warm in AZ. I have a 2 gal water. And three girls just over one year old. Can I add like 1/4 tsp of pool chlorine to their water?sorry didn’t add the important part. Getting some algae growth. Want add a tiny bit of chlorine to keep it out. it not harm the girls or eggs
I’m rather new to chickens so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. We have three Black Asutralords which are just about one year old. The are very sweet and gentle they all get along no bulling. All three are good layers one started laying a bit late but we get 2-3 eggs just about every...
Dang. Hoping there a vet or doc/nurse on here for you. All I can think is keep it clean and dry. Maybe separate her from the Others. Best to you and the girl
