Wee bit of chlorine in the water

Getting warm in AZ. I have a 2 gal water. And three girls just over one year old. Can I add like 1/4 tsp of pool chlorine to their water?sorry didn’t add the important part. Getting some algae growth. Want add a tiny bit of chlorine to keep it out. it not harm the girls or eggs

I can't provide any proof, but I assume chlorine has chemical effects whereas algae really doesn't hurt anything. If you rely on chlorine long term you are using them as a test for the long term effects of chlorine. Not something I would do with 1/4 tsp in 100 gallons, let alone 2 gallons. I scrub my waters about once a week or so and change the waters daily.
 
Anyone who lives within a municipality with a water system is giving their chickens water with chlorine. I haven't heard of any problems, but our chickens drink well water so no chlorine here. Other pet birds like canaries, parakeets, etc. kept in cages in cities are drinking chlorinated water.
