Lowest temp I can remember being in outdoors was hiking in New England in December. I had camped out and when I woke up in the morning it was 7F. It had been colder than that during the night. I remember thinking, "Seven?! That's a child's age, not a temperature!"

That was when I learned you have to put your contact lens case in your sleeping bag with you at night, otherwise the lenses will be frozen to the case in the morning. Spent that day hiking in my glasses.

You haven't truly been winter camping until your eggs freeze in the cooler ... and you still cook 'em for breakfast!
