    Wheezing/sneezing/gasping chick

I have one chick that is wheezing, sneezing, breathing hard & occasionally gasping for air. It seems more lethargic than the rest & sometimes has its eyes closed. I can hear it breathing from loudly over the other chicks. It has been this way for 2 days & the others have been sneezing since the...

    Best movable fence?

I’m looking for ideas on the easiest to move fence. There is already a permanent perimeter fence, but I am wanting to divide the area. I need a place for my daughter to play that is poop free. My husband is wanting to move the fence for mowing purposes, so it needs to be easy to roll up. What...

    Not sure on breed

I have some updated pics at almost 6 weeks old. I'm pretty certain that the black and dark brown one are cockerls. I'm not sure on the buff/brown one though. I'm looking for suggestions on breed for all 3.

    Not sure on breed

My dad hatched them out in his classroom. The eggs came from the local 4-H chapter.

Chicks are almost 3 weeks old. I know they came from standard size brown eggs. The black one has feathers on its legs.

    Dutch Bantams Breed Thread

Based on the breeds that Cackle Hatchery carries, I would have to say that she is a white faced black spanish. Her comb isn't quite as large as the ones in the pictures that they show, but otherwise she looks about right.

Need to Treat Scaly Leg Mites & Lice

I have a small flock of bantams and standard size chickens. Some of them have scaly leg mites, some of them have lice, some of them have both, and some of them have neither. I know that I need to treat all of the chickens though. Some of my bantams are feather footed, so treating the scaly leg...

    Spitzhauben Genders?

I have 3 ten week old Spitzhaubens and don't know what genders they are. Please let me know what you think. I'm pretty sure that the first is a pullet and the second is a cockerl, but I'm not too sure on the third.

Bantam Cochins-know one is a roo, but the others?

I have three 1 month old bantam Cochins. One is for sure a roo (feathering out really weird) but I'm not sure on the other two. Any suggestions?

Putting hen with new chick in same coop as older chicks?

My biggest problem right now is that I have 2 other hens that were also sitting on the eggs with her. There are no more eggs to sit on but they have not moved from the nest. I don't have one of the wire cages to keep them in like is suggested to break broody hens. So I have everyone blocked out...

Putting hen with new chick in same coop as older chicks?

I have a bantam hen (first time mom) and one 3 day old chick(only one hatched). Would it be okay to put them in the same coop as six 3 week old chicks? The bigger chicks spend 95% of the day in their run outside. I don't really have a better place to put her that the other layers won't bother her.

Looking for adult mallards in MO

I am looking for about 20 adult mallards. Does anyone know of someone that sells adult mallard ducks? They need to be in MO or a surrounding state (reasonable driving distance).

    What killed my chicken?

I have never heard of a bobcat around here, but it could be. We live in a pretty open area with a fairly busy road 30 fl from the house. It would have to be pretty brave to come up to the house and jump a 4 ft fence, a majority of which has electric at the top. If it wasn't a cat or hawk, I...
