    Soiled Black Wet Butt

I think she has vent gleet like you said. I washed her butt real good and trimmed her feathers. The skin was purple back there, had a really bad smell and she felt really skinny. I don't have a good feeling about her. I put her in a seperate cage with fresh pine shavings, clean water and food...

    Soiled Black Wet Butt

Not sure what this might be. My white Americana has had a wet black butt for a few weeks now. I have 26 chickens and they free range during the day on 8 acres. During the evenings they are in a clean coop with a 50' run. I feed them Purina Pellets. Would love to know if anyone has any ideas what...

How long will it take for her feathers to grow back? Rejoining flock?

I used blue kote and it did not work. The other chickens still pecked at her. I also tried Pick-No-More to no avail. I had to seperate her until all the feathers grew back.

How long will it take for her feathers to grow back? Rejoining flock?

It took my chicken about one month for her back to heal and feathers to grow fully back. No problems about getting pecked at after that.

    Keeping Chickens Off Back Porch

The squirt bottle sounds like a good plan for me. I'll try that when I'm home for a few days in the row. At least I'm not alone......Good to read all the feedback.

    Keeping Chickens Off Back Porch

I'm so glad you told me about the moth balls. I had no idea chickens had no sense of smell. They have a real nice coop and a fenced run 50ft by 10ft. And a roof on the run. I try to shoo them off during the day but I can only do it so many times a day. I do come out that door to put them in for...

    Keeping Chickens Off Back Porch

I have 20 chickens and 1 turkey. They have 8 acres to free range but keep coming onto my back porch and of course leave me presents, especially the turkey. Is there a way to keep them off besides an electric fence. Mothballs??
