I've hatched a few batches of chicken eggs and now i'm over run by chickens and chicks.
I can't justify hatching anymore right now......so
I know of a source for quail eggs. I've never hatched them
Is it harder to hatch quail eggs? Also do I incubate them the same way as chicken eggs?
Do i...
blu-kote was the only thing the feed store had when I went there today. I'm going tomorrow to pick up a couple other items for the chicks. I had plans for the evening so the blu-kote and separating them was all I was able to do.
My hands are a nice blue color...I'm guessing I'm not getting that...
I usually feed them around 5-6 am. I did feed them right before dark though. Maybe since I was late and broke the routine that they have had since hatching they started being bad
The coop is very old and i'm certain that a rodent could get in if they wanted to. I know of at least one area where a Rodent could get in. When doing a little bit of repairs before putting them out there I wasn't thinking of anything but keeping a fox out or something of that size. There are...
I'm running out to the feed store the only thing i have at home is neosporin. I separated the three that were being pecked the one looks like it hasn't clotted yet.
Should I just put something on them and let them back with the flock. I'm afraid that if i keep them separated for too long I'll...
It makes me very sad and almost sick to my stomach about the worse of the three.
The one that is the worse also has a small spot on one wing but not nearly as horrible as the back/butt area. the last pic is of the second chick that has been hurt. the third chick that is missing feathers isn't...
...to do. Should I put some kind of medicine on it? Neosporin, or some kind of med from the feed store?
I'm sad to even post pics but I don't want her to die or get infected. I put the three that were pecked in a cage together. I hope the tree leaves each other alone!
Note* I assume its pecking

strange that the humidity is so low after all of that. The humidity prob drops about 5% if I take just one plug out. I kind of play with the plugs a bit. I try not to have them both in the entire time for lockdown but I do play with it a bit. I try to make sure that they have enough air. but...
with 33 chicks that are 6 weeks and three days old
and another 20+ chicks that are around 1.5 to 2 weeks old
I just couldn't keep them in the house any longer. They sure do poo a lot
6 of the 33 were in a room that has always been high 60s to low 70s they didn't have a brooder light on them but they were in the same room as another brooder.
27 of them were in a room with a window open for nearly a week. those were in a wire cage with a blanket covering most of it. It got...
I have around 33 six week old chicks. I really need to get them in the coop as soon as I can.
The night time temps here is... tonight 38 and for the rest of the week 45-47 Daytime 65-69 all week with some rain one day.
The coop they are going in has no heat light and its a very old coop...
I put four one day old chicks in with 16 one week old chicks. they got along right from the start.. the day old chicks are quite a bit smaller than the week old chicks.
I also have around 33 chicks that are six weeks old. as they grew the brooder was too small so i seperated them into...
