No rooster, I live in suburb but I noticed the ladies sometimes go on top of one another. I always wanted to get her a little sweater but I could never find one!
I have 6 lovely black astrolorps a called the Fockers, this 1 has no feathers on her back and it’s been like this for awhile. The others peck at her new feathers trying to grow, but now it’s seems like they’re not even appearing anymore. I’m not sure what I can do, all my other chickens have...
Will do thanks for responding you definitely gave me some insight on what might be going on, I’ll let you know right away it might take a while but don’t worry I won’t forget.
Alright I will be taking her to the vet, but something definitely doesn’t feel right around chest area I won’t be draining her myself because I won’t want to make things worse. Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.
Hello oh my goodness I touched her belly and yes it does feel very watery, I know this may be irrelevant but she has this obsession with water whenever I’m changing it she just drinks and drinks and follows any water trail on the floor. How would I go about draining her correctly, and wat causes...
Thanks for your kind words, I am starting to think it may not have been an injury after all but a reproductive issue, after reading some of the replies. I might be taking her to the local bird vet this afternoon. The good thing is she seems a little better.
I’ll have a look into that, thanks. I’ve never given a chicken a tablet like that before, I do think she is low in calcium. I let her out and currently she’s found her way to an outdoor chair and is nesting in that.
MORNING UPDATE: Her wing is looking better but she doesn’t want to leave the nest, she’s still eating small amounts but drinking well I’m about to prepare something for her don’t know what yet, she’s acting strange and walking around really slow.
I let her outside she’s gone to my outdoor...
Hello, both her wings look abnormal and her tail is down. She comes outside every day so gets whatever sun is available. She normally eats all day long. We feed the chickens a classic seed mix as well as protein-based food, and our leftover veggies and lots of lettuce and grass from the garden...
Hello! Thanks for responding, I will be taking her to the vet today to find out what's wrong. Everything else appears normal she is just fatigued, she normally runs around and goes for a dirt bath but today she is just sitting in the corner.
About the egg situation, a couple of months back she...
I am planning on taking Penny to the vet today just to find out what's wrong, and it's both wings that are abnormal. She is still standing up alright and is quite strong, she hasn't eaten but is drinking well. Thank you so much for the advice.
Hello I did not give up I fell asleep at 12 am here in Australia, and now it's 5 am and I'm about to go check on Penny when the sun comes up. Sorry for being so desperate I just feel terrible for Penny since she came to us and I wanted to give her a great life.
Thank you! That is Mopsy a 4-year-old cochin bantam, we call her grey but I think she may be lavender. S is so friendly and lives free range on our grass all-day and follows us around. I choose her name because the feathers on her feet look like a mop, she is an incredible chicken.
