...I posted 4 weeks ago about a chicken losing its voice

It got *some* voice back, but not much. Still no other signs of illness. Not laying eggs still, but she is in molt too.
How long would till I can let her...
Don't think so, judging from those photos. Her mouth looks clean and normal now, and previously it was white and swollen, like she'd drunk milk or cream!
Some more photos of the black chick. Can someone explain how you can tell this is a rooster? I thought that if they had bumps on their comb bit, that was indicative of roosters, but this one is smooth? I'd be keen to know how to figure it out for future reference!
I tried to deworm her last night, but only had piperazine, when the link posted said to use ivermectin. Figured it couldn't hurt anyway! I actually syringe a bit into her, until she started fighting me, because in the past they just tend to knock the water over! Her throat was clear now. The...
Just looked down her throat.... Appear to be swollen or something, looks different to my other chickens! White and inflamed. She was also really agitated and after our first look, fought with us and wouldn't let us look again.
If there is something lodged, its too irritated to see. Will follow...
I've tried to google, with little luck.
One of my hens (who is usually the noisest one) was making funny sounds this morning. It's like she's lost her voice. I checked a few other things:
- Comb is fine, red, healthy, standing up straight
- Eyes look clear, alert, no discharge
- No discharge...
Here's some more, I think this is as close as ill be able to get! Funny, I thought both had similar combs, but the frizzles is bumpy and the black on is smooth.
I can try. It's a bit hard, they are pretty skittish. Usually my boys are better at catching them than I am, but the bigger they get the faster and smarter they get!
Both of them have bumpy bits, but not sure if you'd call them a comb! Different to the rest of our chickens, so hard for me too tell!
Both are 2 months and 10 days old, so about 10 weeks?
And no, the other older on is definitely a hen, she's been laying eggs for us for ages!
Hi everyone!
Just dropping by to say hello, and check out my chicks! So big now! Only got 2 out of 12 eggs, so not the best (but hey, first time hatching, and first time mumma hen), but better than nothing right? Anyone know whether these are roos or hens? I'm thinking the black is a roo...
Fairy sure the black is a roo, but I've also never had this breed, so could be wrong! both are 2 months and 10 days old.
This one is an Ameraucana.
And this one is a frizzlecauna
I wasn't planning to actually clip the chicks wings now, but was just curious!
I have no option but to clip my chickens wings. We have a few escapees, and our backyard isn't secure, and the dog next door has an appetite for chickens (and can also get into my backyard!). Clipping definitely...
She has been doing it since the chicks were born. I thought maybe she wanted out of their pen, but the main pen isn't secure for the chicks, and we have a dog next door who has eaten chicks from previous people in the house! So not game to let them out!
There are no grubs in the area they are...
At what age do you clip chicks wings? My lil ones are already flying all over the place! They aren't exactly going to be able to fly over the fence (they are under 2 weeks!), but it got me thinking, when can you safely clip wings?
