I have a beautiful chicken raised from a chick don't know the breed.

My mottled Cochin bantam looked like that when she was a babe but she has feathered feet.

    Need help sexing chicks

Can anyone help me with the sex of these chicks yet? They were born 1st week of May. The white chick with fluffy head and the white/black chick are from Easter Egger hen and white silkie roo. The two brown chicks are from a golden Polish and white silkie roo. The other white/cream chick is a...

    Silkie Roo hatching eggs question

If I could get Papa in the photos too, that would be great! He's a bit of a handful at times. Not the friendliest. He doesn't bother me but won't let me pet him or pick him up. Tries to bite my Mom when she takes care of the flock when I'm on vacation. He was sort of a rescue so I didn't hand...

    Silkie Roo hatching eggs question

Awwww yes that's such a sweet idea! They weren't brooded by their Mama's so they aren't ready to be introduced yet as they're too small. But I might bring the Mama's out with the babies for a quick photo shoot in a few weeks. The Mama's are quite docile so I think they'll all probably sit in my...

    Silkie Roo hatching eggs question

Hum, I guess my birds aren't show quality! I got the hen from mypetchicken.com and the rooster came from a local feed store. As for the barnyard mixes, they will never have those qualities but the uniqueness of the newbies is exciting! I'm not interested in showing my birds anyway. They're my...

    Silkie Roo hatching eggs question

I think that's the hens. This is my bantam silkie hen, Barb. She has a beautiful walnut comb. Unfortunately, I don't have a good picture of it. If she wasn't fast asleep under her matching roo's chin, I would take one for you! haha.

    Help me with my flock!

Awwwww they're so sweet! Beautiful birds. I hope you can keep them regardless of sex. At that age, they should be at least attempting to crow. That's usually a sure bet for sex. lol. When they first start to crow it's a very funny noise - almost like an old man coughing. Once you hear it...

    Silkie Roo hatching eggs question

So, I put it to the test and had 4 healthy baby chicks hatch yesterday! I will post below a pic of Mom and Dad and then the babies! I'll update later when they're older and start laying. I'm so excited to see the egg color. All of the babies have Dad's extra toe.
