    Sand in Run Question

It does look like that. It's just regular sand, like the type you buy to use in a sand box or play ground for kids. Sorry, we call it play sand here. I am in shock that your coop looks so clean after all that rain and not having to touch it! How deep is the sand in your run? It seems that in my...

    Sand in Run Question

I have 5 chickens in my backyard coop. They have a run area that is about 60 sq ft and it has a sand floor. The sand seemed to be great for the first 8-10 months or so, then it started getting gross really fast. I was scooping out poop and raking up feathers but then it got to the point that it...

Review by '' on item 'Silkie'

I love my silkies! I have 2 in my small mixed breed flock. One is a white bearded, the other is a non bearded buff. The white one is as sweet as can be, i can flip her on her back and hold her like a baby. She goes broody pretty often, but she is so darn cute it doesnt matter to me! My buff...

Review by '' on item 'Rhode Island Red'

I have a small mixed flock, and the RIR is one of my favorites. She lays the best eggs, (good size, and production) and she is very hardy. She does cause the most problems when I add new hens to the group, and definately is at the top of the pecking order. Once everyone is settled she does calm...

Thank you everyone! I forgot to mention, the coop was built from about 90% recycled materials. We have a great resource store in my town that i was able to get just about everything from. I built this coop for around $300!

    Baby Wyandottes

I just picked up my two new and adorable little wyandotte chicks today. One is Silver Laced, the other was labeled as "Red Laced." Im confused about this because all i have seen so far are Blue Laced Red, or Gold Laced. Is there a red laced color, or is it just gold laced? Here are a few pics...
