    Molting or lice

I have 5 hens we got may 2020. This one seems to be molting or I wonder if the white specks are something else. When I took pics today, seemed to be less. Hope you all can give me some ideaa

    Bullied or Disease

I don’t think it’s fencing…I checked and we don’t have anything not secure around the coop.

    Bullied or Disease

One of my 5 three year old hens was being severely bullied and isolated. There are let out and roam our large fenced in yard with lots of places to hide. They return to coop at dark and we lock them in until the next morning. The first night we couldn’t find her in the coop or in yard. She came...

    Werid kinda cracked egg

This is our second one like this. We have 6 hens…this seems to be one of our larger eggs. Is something wrong? Last time it was a little larger and odd shaped, we thought maybe a double yoke, but not.

Loud hen all day. Is this normal?

They just make a new one...they've created several different places, but whatever, all six will say there lol

Loud hen all day. Is this normal?

This is my 3rd grouping of hens over the years. I usually have 3 or 4, but this group I have 6 hens. 2 Rhode Island reds, 2 Plymouth Rocks, 1 Rhode Island blue and 1 Ameraucana. These are the noisiest hens I have ever had. They have been laying for over a year and they all use the same nest...

I need help. Someone is stalking my chickens

We live in the burbs and have 6 chickens we let free range all day in our large fenced in yard. We have woods on the back and side of yard with lot's of owls, hawks, fox and coyote that we've seen outside of our fence, after being alerted by the dogs. We continue to let them free range, most...

    Staying out in the cold?!?

Thanks for all the great suggestions. We took their roost out of the run, added a roost inside and a small red light. They go in now on their own and all is well!

    Staying out in the cold?!?

Thanks! They are safe within the enclosure. The coop is not heated, but warmer than 10-20 degrees outside!

    Staying out in the cold?!?

Whoa - that’s cold! They are safe within the enclosure, roosting right next to the coop.

    Staying out in the cold?!?

They are roosting right outside the coop door, but still within the enclosed run. They go inside the coop once a day to lay an egg.

    Staying out in the cold?!?

    Who would like cold weather!!

    Staying out in the cold?!?

Good questions... we’re good on all but, getting too dark. My brother also suggest a dim red light for in the coop might help them to be more comfortable in the coop. They each go into the coop each day to lay an egg!

    Staying out in the cold?!?

That seems a bit harsh... not sure I could do that

    Staying out in the cold?!?

That’s exactly where all six of mine roost. NKY here and it’s been unusually mild, but a significant cold front is coming and I’m worried they won’t go inside.

    Staying out in the cold?!?

That makes sense, I’ve gone out usually after 9. I will try an earlier intervention

    Staying out in the cold?!?

I have 8 month old girls that seems to love roosting outside of their coop at night. Girls I had before would go inside at night and when the temp went below freezing, I would go out at and shut the door to the coop. These chickens are not going in and the temps are going to go way down below...
