acording to most sites there isnt really anything you can do. Is she still eating? drinking?
Good luck!! the worst should be over by the end of the week.
sort of sounds like what mine did last year. The one thing that worked was electorlyte water(smart water) w/sugar (1 tsp sugar per gal) and then I also added sulmet. the sugar helped keep them going long enough to get the meds in them, I used a dropper/syringe at first then after 2 days no more...
you have to keep her away from the roos. Completely away. the Roos grab the head feathers first then try and mount to mate which is why she is bald. It you dont have a cage get a cardboard box and keep her on your porch or in the house for a few days till she starts getting better but with any...
When I have to dose I use a gallon water jug and then just pour out 1/2 then change it later or add more later. We have 60 now in all stages of growth from 1 week to 1 year. Crazy days and good luck.
I had a few Problems of my own with chicks, I add electrolytes and vitamins and then about 1/2 tsp of sugar per quart of water. (gives them just a bit of energy.) with them dropping so quickly after delivery I am not too sure but that should help. if you have a dropper then try squeezing some...
I do that now, Changing shoes(covers) at every pen, but I did add the Sulmet to all the pens. The Roo is hanging in and ate late this evening. We have him up by the House in an Isolaton tractor and feel depression maybe an issue now too because He lost his companion.
Thank you for replying.
How Old is she? at this point I would say that it may be her time has come to go to Chicken heaven, and there may be nothing you can do if she isnt eating. If you still want to try give her chick mash and see if she just needs a bit of easier to digest food, and maybe add a teaspoon of sugar per...
My 1 year old Standard Brahmas have started with this. Lost one hen before I could treat her, now her Roo and the 3 in the next pen have started. I have strated treament with Sulmet and Electrolite water and added sugar to keep their energy up. I may have caught it in time but the BIG queston is...
Sounds like you are doing ok with him. I would also use the electrolite water(smart water) with sugar in it to help him out, and the eye dropper with liquid mash is a good idea. If his eye is all crusty you might want to clean it so it doesnt heal shut.
I read through the whole post and I am glad that it isnt going after you anymore but dont be too unwilling to Cull it as it grows... It can hurt you as it gets bigger, more than just an ankle bite...
Good Luck.
Thats too bad.. you might try looking up.. rafters of a barn? Trees? we had one who got up into the rafters of our small barn but seemed not to want to come down even after 24 Hours.. He was really Chicken
We have a total of 4, 1year old Standard Dark Brahmas. 2 Roos and 2 hens, (we had 5 butwe just lost a hen a couple of days ago). the hens are good layers, 1 a day most of the time, and the roos are pretty friendly. they have started to get aggressive if you harass the hens but otherwise they...
