Hi,
We have a Cochin Rooster “Coach” and he’s a big beautiful boy. However, we also have two frizzles and one silkie in the flock. Our silkie and smaller frizzle showed signs of over mating and feather loss. So I’ve tried 4 different types of mating saddles. Our chickens have a lot of room and...
One of our chickens is showing signs of being sick. She’s in the run alone tail down and droopy comb. She has green poop coming out her butt. How do I know what to treat her with? Should I isolate her now?
The two black chicks are 10 weeks old and Easter egger mixes as the rooster was one of 10. The white chick is a rooster and 8 weeks old but I just can’t tell with these other two. Anyone think they know???
Mama is very sensitive and the smell of us on her causes her to peck. I may try to buy a chick from somewhere to give her a friend as she definitely thinks I’m mama and wants to be with us all day.
Hi,
Our last egg to hatch with our broody hens seemed to have leg issues. She moves but doesn’t stand fully up. This morning I noticed mom wasn’t helping her at all and then pecked her twice so I removed her and now she’s in our house in a brooder. I gave her so chicken vitamins in her water...
Ok, we have them separate and one of them is a way better mother but they both are doing great :) At what age will they be ok to be around each other? I was thinking I could alternate days on letting them out to forage but when should I just say they will figure it out?

Looks like one is a dud but the other two are developing however they aren't full yet so I am guessing one is at least 5 more days and the other possibly 7 but you could see veins and chicks. Hopefully she can wait that out. So far she is very committed to seeing them hatch. Our chickens free...
Thank you! Yes, we did a flashlight a couple weeks ago and all four were fertilized but will check today to see if we can see a chick in the other 3. No matter, should we leave them until she stops sitting on them? And if/when that happens should we try to put them under the other hen since she...
Hi all.
It's our first time hatching eggs. We have two silkies that have been very broody. Over our snow fall we failed at removing eggs and have a rooster. By the time we went to collect eggs the one hen had 4 eggs that were all fertilized. We decided to let her have them and marked them...
