Found one of my appenzeller hens with this injury, it's right under her wing and i don't know how it happened. I've already put some antibiotic on it. Need some suggestions, thanks.
Thank you for the response, when I get home I'll work on cleaning the coop out and try to get my hands on that elector poultry spray. I have no intent on breaking the broody at this point because shes never hatched any before and has had like 4 failed attempts over the past few years, she...
Last two eggs hatched last night. She hatched 5/5 first time broody as well.
Now it's time for the oprington, hers will hatch this weekend. she's had 4 failed attempts at hatching in the past 2 years. Hoping she can get it right this time.
I believe the coop filled with my older flock of 4 chickens has been infestated with mites. One of my two broodys is sitting on her eggs which are probably on day 15 or so. I went to candle them and when I pulled the egg out from under her I noticed dozens of small mites crawling up my arm. I...
Checked on my cochin bantam this morning and found out 1 chick has already hatched. She refused to let me see it lol. Now I have to go through the whole day thinking about this instead of focusing at school lmao
I had candled it before hand and it was doing fine but, I went in today to make sure she didn't break it and it wasn't there. There are no eggshells lying around and there's no sticky mess or anything and I have no idea what happened to it.
Alright so I found out one of the eggs under my broody orpington has what looks like a peck mark, what do I do? Leave it alone or something idk
The eggs are on day like 6 or 7
I set 20 eggs total under my 2 broodies, an orpington and a cochin bantam. After candling only 6 were Fertile, I took those 6 and gave them to my cochin because the orpington has broken 3 eggs in the past 5 days.
She looks a little pale Idk if I should be concerned or not
I added an egg a day for her until there were about 8, I think other chickens may be pushing her out though because they like to lay in there, might have to separate her
The orpington went broody but didn't stay on at night, the cochin set for a few hours longer than normal but got off and is making a few growling noises here and there.
