Oh and her color is back. She was pale this morning and laying on the ground with one leg out in front. She's now back to color standing straight as an arrow and looking at her legs in disbelief. So am I. The others were dead by now.

    Help!!

One by one my chickens are dying. Two a day, some have symptoms, some don't. I know it's mareks. What do I do? I'm removing lethargic birds, lame birds... It just won't stop. Where does this come from? I bought chicks from tractor supply back in march and last week one of them "hurt it's leg"...

    Emotions after butchering

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I don't know if I could do that again. I didn't even like him because he was so nasty, but he was just being a rooster. Meh. Well on a positive note, it didn't come out to shabby for my first one. It is going on the rotisserie tonight...good timing because I'm broke...

    Emotions after butchering

I butchered my first chicken today for dinner tonight. He was a nasty young rooster that was beating up on my hens, me, my daughter...I'm still incredibly sad at his loss. Just a vent

Coccidiosis- had. Amprolium worked wonders followed by 3 days of vitamins, electrolytes and probiotics. Upper respiratory- have, kept chicken extra warm, inside, applied vet rx to beak twice a day, she went back out healthy today after 4 day treatment. This is my second time with upper...

    My flock has coccidiosis...sad face

I'm sorry davlyn, I'm quoting you and not replying because I really suck at technology. Lol! I have to go get game feed too. Three turkeys have now been dropped in my lap. Does anyone know if baby turkeys can eat starter chick for a while? I'm a little cut off from civilization here and I get...

    My flock has coccidiosis...sad face

Yup I started them on med crumbles.. when that 5olb bag was gone I got a small bag of No med crumbles because of the ducklings. and then I was told to get game feed for the ducklings, so I did & went back to the med. feed. and I didn't let them out of the coop for a few wks. I just put up a...

    My flock has coccidiosis...sad face

I didn't know that. I am using Corid, day three, and I have been giving them yogurt (didn't know that). It seems there are not as many bloody droppings but I can stop the yogurt. Question now: I have probiotic powder. Wait until treatment is over before giving them that? Other than one or two...

    My flock has coccidiosis...sad face

Ohhhh that sucks. I just cleaned...again... The whole coop so I can inspect new poo. There is a medicated chick feed with the active ingredient in corid in it. That was my oops. I had 6 chicks unexpectedly dropped in my lap and was already using straight starter/grower with no medication. So I...

    My flock has coccidiosis...sad face

So it took a week to figure this out. A bird died for no good reason last week. Then, I noticed one of my girls acting lethargic. Great. I'm thinking upper respiratory. I walk in the coop yesterday to a bloody murder scene. Two totally different birds are pooping blood. I already ran to tractor...

    Hello from Pennsyvania

It's heartbreaking. But I'm pushing forward with the healthy ones. Luckily I was too exhausted from lack of sleep to have emotions when I found it. I have a young male bunny that NEEDS to go in outside hutch when the weather breaks. We call him Thumper.

    Hello from Pennsyvania

I lost this one last night. It wasn't eating, drinking, growing...anything. The others started picking on it so I carried it in my bra all day giving it sugar water, and egg mixed with milk and feed. It started eating and drinking on its own so I put it in the brooder. I woke up to poor chick dead.
