One by one my chickens are dying. Two a day, some have symptoms, some don't. I know it's mareks. What do I do? I'm removing lethargic birds, lame birds... It just won't stop. Where does this come from? I bought chicks from tractor supply back in march and last week one of them "hurt it's leg". Then the other leg went...then boom. One after the other they are dropping dead. Please someone tell me everything I'm not looking up about mareks.

owch sounds like a contagious disease first step would be to ask the vet but if it is what you think it is (mareks) i'd recommend - 1 tablespoon of DISTILLED water per tablet Hypericum (must be distilled water, tap water is ionized and will deactivate the Hypericum)
- MUST be mixed in a GLASS or PLASTIC bowl (metal with react with the water and herb)
- drip 5-10 drops (bantam) or 10-15 drops (large fowl) on the afflicted bird's tongue. Be sure the bird rubs its beak together because the Hypericum MUST touch the sinuses (located on the roof of the mouth) in order to work
- treat every 12 hours (morning and night) with a fresh batch
- recovery may be as quick as 1 day or as slow as several months
AND to check if your chickens have mareks you can diagnose it yourself SYMPTOMS INCLUDE: sudden death (fairly common), depression (common), gradual weight loss (fairly common), neck paralysis (not common), paleness (in conjunction with other symtoms), wing paralysis (common), leg paralysis (most common), star-gazing (fairly common), extreme sudden emaciation (rare), mishapen pupil (not common), gray iris (not common), crazy behavior (rare), unresponsive (common), internal tumor growth (not common), tumors on feather follicles (not common), fearful (not common), Good Luck!

So I went and got the herb. I treated her this morning. Couple hours have passed and the chicken is walking??!! I don't want to get my hopes up but....she's walking!!!!?? She is also running. And making normal chicken sounds again. I will keep it up until symptoms are gone or she is (again, I don't want to get my hopes up) unbelievable. Thank you for the advice. My fingers are crossed.

Oh and her color is back. She was pale this morning and laying on the ground with one leg out in front. She's now back to color standing straight as an arrow and looking at her legs in disbelief. So am I. The others were dead by now.

Update: lost that chicken. No one else is showing any symptoms but there is no more freeranging either in case they were getting into something.
