What the heck is this noise I keep hearing at night?

That seems to be it! Thanks a lot! That explains why I can't hear it move.

What the heck is this noise I keep hearing at night?

Took a video of it: Repeats about every 15 seconds, and seems to be in the trees. When I move close it will move a little further but won't make a sound when moving. Just calls again further away. It seems to like hanging around the coop for some reason. Any ideas? I'm hoping this is common...

Pretty sure I have two roos. Whatcha think?

Cochin Bantam Roo w/ three other breed hens: what'll they be?

I thought for sure I knew what the red star's eggs looked like since she was a rescue and we kept finding one style of egg off the roost until she became accustomed to her new coop, but perhaps I'm wrong. All three eggs definitely were identical, and were the only kind of egg I had that was...

Cochin Bantam Roo w/ three other breed hens: what'll they be?

Found an article on sex-links that said this: "When we breed a barred male to solid color females, his daughters get a normal and full dose of barring and his sons get only one gene, or half the normal dose, of barring. If the hen used was black, all the chicks will be barred. If the hen...

Cochin Bantam Roo w/ three other breed hens: what'll they be?

Three healthy fuzzy butts. One yellow and two black. Two different breeds? I swear the eggs were from the same hen. Or does this mean the yellow one is a male and the other two female?

Cochin Bantam Roo w/ three other breed hens: what'll they be?

One chick is almost out and two others have pipped. Will probably have a chick or two when I get home from work.

Will Mini Advance keep going after day 0?

Well, first pip just now! The question still remains, though. :)

Will Mini Advance keep going after day 0?

I've got three eggs in my Mini Advance, saw some movement in one yesterday, and it is now well into day 0 (hatch day) with no pipping. I know some take longer than others, and that's fine, but I'm concerned about my Brinsea Mini Advance. Do I have to click any kind of "add a day" to keep it...

Cochin Bantam Roo w/ three other breed hens: what'll they be?

Long time since an update, but the little guy wasn't getting the target, so to speak. He tries his damndest though and finally got a lucky shot! I noticed a definite bullseye (must have been imagining it before) and threw three eggs that looked like the one I cracked open, and four random...

    Round or not?

Yep, I figured why waste the money on lumber if I don't need it. I cut down a tree that was fairly straight, about 3-4" around, and lightly sanded any rough spots.

    Anyone keep chickens off-site?

I'm thinking about keeping some chickens on some remote land. No power, just basically a hunting get-away. I'm thinking about using one of those automatic deer-feeders to scatter food a couple times a day, water supplied by the natural creek, and let 'em free range. At night, they'll have a...

Brinsea Mini Advance doesn't turn at all!

Yeah, he's a cochin bantam with standard size hens. He is about 35 weeks old. All the girls are RIR, BR, Auracanas, and a red star. He seems to "enjoy" them all, but apparently ain't making the connection.

I use a kitty litter scooper and the cheapest sand that lowes has. Works great!

Brinsea Mini Advance doesn't turn at all!

Called them on Monday, and got my new 'bator yesterday! The UPS guy picked up my old one an dropped off the new one. Quick and painless indeed! The new one works wonderfully and I'm letting it run through a cycle to make sure all is good before I put eggs in.

Yeah, I emailed them hoping someone would get back to me earlier but to no avail.
