Called vet and she won't prescribe over the phone. They want to see her. $45. I can't afford that. So I will just keep cleaning the area and applying neosporin. She is eating feed and chasing bugs every now and then, stops droops wings like an eagle until she see something else. Thank you...

    sick chicken

I kept her inside last night. She is eating and drinking. I let her out and watched her as she joined the flock. She took a few steps, did a poop and then walked to the other birds. She walked to them, then drooped her backside and out comes a egg with out the shell. Couple of the others ate it...

    sick chicken

Thank you for the quick response. I brought her back inside and put her in a crate. She had not moved from the spot I placed her. I took several pictures but I have to wait until my son comes home to get them off the camera.

    Ouch!

Our Wyandottes have been laying since the end of September. The egg on the right is about the average size egg we get. The egg on the left is from a hen we call Prima. All of her eggs are double yolks.

New Englanders! Much ado about New England!

Dave from Fremont, New Hampshire. I was a keeper of bees for 20 years but a bad back took me out of the apiary. So we decided that chickens might be a good family hobby. We just started this May with 13 white wyandottes and a dark Brahma roo (mystery bird). We will be keeping them for eggs.

    McMurray Mystery Chicken

Thank you every one for the quick replies. Being a "roo" that might explain the tough guy routine. He is gentle when we hold him but will peck your face if he gets within reach. Again thank you for the welcome and replies.
