    Australorp

Well, it's hard to say honestly.. :idunno

    Australorp

If it is 9.5 weeks old like the first one, I would say that it's a cockerel. It would have been interesting to see the tail. Anyway you'll know in a couple of weeks.

    Inbreeding

It would be interesting to know the inbreeding coefficients based on all the different types of breeding (brother X sister - father/mother X daughter/son - grandfather/grandmother X niece/nephew etc) in order to calculate the "limit" that it's better not to transgress.

    Orpington or Australorp?

Australorp is more slender like the one I have in my profile's photo. Orpingtons are bigger and fluffier so the body-shape is different. I think yours is an English standard Orpington.

    Heavy rooster

Well, they are not distressed or frightened around the rooster fortunately. Then I hope they'll molt soon

    Heavy rooster

LOL  However I really like blue and splash colours and fortunately Australorp has got also blue and splash varieties but at the moment I have only the black one

    Heavy rooster

Your chicks are really cute. So you have also an Orpington roo in your flock? That make sense, you can work on this breed and also have purebred chicks :)
  12. CiceroXY

    Heavy rooster

Yeah, she's really small. Silkie crossed with what breed? The orange one is a Buff Orpington, I'm pretty sure, and the blue ones?

    Heavy rooster

Your flock is beautiful, congrats! :wee What breed/cross is your rooster? He seems pretty huge! Yes, you are probably right cause I can imagine that a Silkie cross and an Isa have two different types of plumage
  14. CiceroXY

    Heavy rooster

Yes but my Australorps do not have this kind of problem. Instead the lack of feathers on the back of Isas is quite marked and it's not a pretty sight. That's why I thought it was a problem of difference of size. However I'll trim his spurs ;)

    Australorp

    I agree

    Heavy rooster

First of all I don't know if this is the right place for this question but if it's not, I ask moderators to move the thread to the right section :) So, I have a 3-years-old Australorp rooster, Isa browns and other Australorp hens. Now, my Isas have a lack of feathers on the back. I'm pretty sure...

    "Pure" Marans or BRs

Quality is the most important thing if you want to start a breeding program.. Everything will be a little bit easier ;)
  18. CiceroXY

    "Pure" Marans or BRs

Yeah, the Marans rooster has to be pure. I think you should ask in the Marans general thread, what kind of chocolate-coloured eggs the female offsprings of a Marans-roosterXanother-pure-breed will lay.. and what kind of breeding process/system you should follow to have chickens that are...

    "Pure" Marans or BRs

Also crested cream legbars have crests

    "Pure" Marans or BRs

Yes, I were on the other thread :caf The fact is that also Marans do not have crests according to the standard.. so I do not think the crested hen is an AustralorpxMarans cross.
