I have a large rooster that I need to get rid of. He was hatched from RIR hatching eggs I bought and hatched in Feb. of this year. He's pretty, but crows way to loud for the are I live in. I am located near Busch Gardens. If any one wants him all they have to do is come get him.
Anyone live near Tampa have a laying hen or two for sale? Also looking to buy a pure breed hen or pullet. I'd love for my kids to have the chance to enter a show. Thank you in advance.
I like to make crafts out of things I find. Right now I am making mosaic pictures using sea shell pieces that the kids and I collected over the summer, as well as making windchines.
I used to raise mealworms for my geckos. I used bran, wheat germ, and oatmeal. I also used a slice potato to give them water. Watch out for other bugs though. Roaches love feasting off the bedding! Also you can get carpet beatles, moths, and all other sorts of unwanted insects in the bran.
Thought I'd add one. We have a discount bread store where I live. You can buy day old bread for 3 / $1.00 or $10.00 a shopping cart full. The bread is still good, just pulled off the shelves the day before. My chickens love a few slices of bread now and then!
I remember when they used to dye chicks, and bunnies all sorts of colors with food coloring to sell at Easter time. Food Coloring would work I'm sure, but it's hard to get off. In my teen years I dyed strips of my hair with blue food coloring, and it took about a month or so before I got it all...
Cook the chicken until if falls off the bone. Cut it into small to med. size chunks and add it to a pot of yellow rice. This is a simple and quick way to feed a lot of people, and it cost very little.
I lost my father in April of this year. I am so sorry for your loss.
I have 6 chickens already, and they all seem very happy! Plus I have paid to have them checked out.
However, I want to get a few more hens. Any tips on how I can check for lice and mites?
I don't want to bring home sick chickens, is there anything else I should look for?
