    My spoiled Muscovy gal

She's so sweet! It must be very hard when she cries like that not to pick her up. So lovable! I wish my Muscovy's would let me cuddle them. Or even touch them. I have 2 out of 6 that will just barely let me touch them.

duck food recommendations & advice needed

Tractor Supply carries Nutrena Naturewise All Flock which has about 125ppm of Niacin. This is compared to Purina Duck feed at 65ppm and Mazuri Waterfowl Maintenance at 162ppm. It can be ordered online & shipped or some stores carry it in stock.

Oh yea. Forgot about that part.

Why won't my ducks use their tank anymore?

By any chance might the de-icer have caused the water to get electrified? Short in it or surge or something? Not sure what type of de-icer you have but is it possible one or more might have got burned by it, say while dunking their head in. I know how they like to root around under water.

    Home-made duck feed recipe?

Ah I didn't see all the other posts, just this one. And then got sidetracked from my search by reading this thread. Knowing the whole story does help. Reading just this thread was reading out of context of the whole situation.

    Home-made duck feed recipe?

I know this is kind of old thread & @mypoorducky may no longer be coming to the forum or in need of help. I came across this because I was searching about oats for ducks. But I'm surprised no one mentioned getting some nutritional yeast at the grocery store to make sure the ducks are getting...

Duck bug hunting... and at night?

My neighbor across a busy street has coyote & maybe fox killing her ducks, chickens and even one of her turkey's. I'm hoping they stay over there but with little left to prey on I'm afraid they'll discover my ducks. I'm hoping the chain link fence will deter them. In one respect I miss summer...

    Best way to mark Ducks

Mine has never attacked me like that. He actually doesn't attack at all. The only time he tries to bite me is when I try to pet him. I don't know if it's a good thing or not but if he keeps trying to bite me after I say NO! I grab his bill and hold it for a couple seconds. That seems to work...

    Best way to mark Ducks

Mine would never let me pick them up or hold still to do something like that. I used to be able to sort of pet 3 out of 6 of them, now just down to one. He sometimes wants to bite though & I hate having to scold him making the petting an unpleasant act so if he's in biting mood I just leave him...

    Best way to mark Ducks

I saw a photo on this forum somewhere where their ducks had on like mini bandanas. I think they were Valentine's Day with hearts but they were cute. Something like that might work.

    ducks fighting

Oh, thinking back there was a drake that did appear to be trying to mate with the bullied one. It didn't look like the usual take down type of being on the back holding him down. My friend who was the wing clipper, even said it appeared he was trying to mate with him. That was right after we...

    ducks fighting

I'm definitely no expert since this is my 1st year as duck Momma. I have all drake flock, 6 Muscovy's born maybe in June. Some of them starting picking on the smallest/youngest one pretty bad. Then he learned he could fly so started flying away from them but unfortunately he'd fly out of my yard...

    Ducks, snow, bath time

I kind of went crazy with the emoji's in my previous post lol but realized we need an animated human hugging a duck emoji. 😊

    Ducks, snow, bath time

I can't remember having this many low temps in the teens & highs only in 20's for several years. I mean we get some, but this year seems we've had way more than normal. I've been having to use way too much hot water to thaw ice. I heat some of it up in the microwave but that takes so long for...

    Ducks, snow, bath time

It's amazing how just how much moving the water can help keep it from freezing. I thought about buying/trying another de-icer (not really a heater) but I could buy about 3 - 400gph water pumps for price of one de-icer which didn't do anything to keep hole open. And it was 400 watts. My...

    Ducks, snow, bath time

hahaha ... Hummm I wonder if they'd like a small hot tub. :D Please, don't give my ducks any ideas, they're already too spoiled & if they thought I might buy hot tub for them ... oh boy would they hate me if I didn't. lol They're already little mad at me for clipping their wings. Way too many...

    Ducks, snow, bath time

Thanks for the advice about temps below 20. We don't get an awful lot of cold temps or should say we haven't the last few years. Just a couple days here in there in the teens. But seems winter might have finally set in this year since we've already had several days in the teens and got some...

    Ducks, snow, bath time

haha actually Brownie can use the 5 gal aluminum bucket that some of the other ducks use, it's not very big around so they can't fit their butt or their head in only their body but somehow they manage to bath in it. :D Or he can use the 7 gal rubber stock tub in front yard that they also like to...

    Ducks, snow, bath time

This is my first winter being duck mama & my Muscovy ducks 1st winter too, so I was just a bit worried about them getting cold. I guess I really didn't need to worry when I saw one taking a bath with about 5" snow on ground and temps in the 20's. It did get down into the teens the next 2 nights...
