I was pleasantly surpised Monday when I picked the greenbeans. They were hanging full. I picked 3/4 of a 5gal bucket. I was very happy about that. Tuesday I picked butterbeans. I have a 1 gallon bucket of shelled beans ready to process. Lots of small pods on the plants.
Some of the zinnias...
The collard plants are outside to harden off. The cabbage and broccoli are in the greenhouse waiting to be put outside today. I have to cover these at night to keep the deer out of them.
I may be picking butterbeans again and possibly some greenbeans. Still doing cleanup to be ready for the...
Picked and shelled butterbeans over the weekend. They will need picking again in about a week. Lot's of immature pods and flowers. Saw lot's of bees!
Blanched and froze several more quarts yesterday.
Picked some yellow squash and 2 zucchini then pulled the remaining plants. Still getting...
I had the same problem. Ant bites are painful and then itchy. They destroy the wood.
I have a bed beside my greenhouse that was originally built from landscape timbers 3 high with gutter spikes holding every thing in place.. I loved it at first until the ants moved in. I could not keep them...
When we have lots of rain melons take in a lot of water and it dilutes the flavor. Melons picked during dryer weather have a more concentrated flavor.
I have never used azomite that @R2elk mentioned. I need to investigate that.
I have shaded tomatoes with old white bed sheets, scraps of window...
I went to the garden this morning it was starting to drizzle light rain. Working quickly I picked 5 more pumpkins, 6 butternut squash, cucumbers and 2 watermelons. The rain stopped so I dead headed the zinnias and some of the marigolds.
I was about to cut some zinnias to take to the house and...
A couple elections ago I was given a hat.
Pink camo ball cap with slogan across the front.
I was surprised. I have not seen stuff like that in a long time.
This is a volunteer watermelon. I had not checked on it lately. I looked at it today and it is a Sugar Baby. Must have been a seed from last year. There are 4 melons on this vine.
Accidental produce. I'll take it!
This morning I pulled 2 zucchini and pruned the yellow squash. This gives the sweet potato vines more room.
Picked some butterbeans.
A few of the pie pumpkins were ready.
Butternut squash
Actually it is not that difficult. If I can do it anyone can if they have the right tools.
You need a stable surface to work on. Use masking tape along the area to be cut. Use a fine toothed blade. Go slowly.
There are many sites that give good instructions just search "how to cut plexiglass".
Did you want to keep the plexiglass window?
If not maybe you can remove the plexiglass. Cut the center out to make a frame. (You would need a drill and jig saw.) Drill holes around the frame. Add hardware cloth to the plexiglass frame. I'd use small bolts, nuts with lockwashers to attach...
I don't add much to my garden soil. I had testing done several years when I first started gardening on this property. After a while I noticed the main thing I had to do was adjust the ph every 3 or so years. Our soil tends to be very acidic. Great for blue hydrangeas not so much with most...
