I do go out and open her mouth and take a whiff... Not too bad. About 4 days ago when hubby and I were both picking her up and checking her out we noticed she had a BAD odor then. Not necessarily from her mouth though.... Not sure. I wonder if the smell part could have passed
Dawg if you look in the picture on the left waddle in the back just below my thumb you can see one of the black "warts" She only has maybe 2 and none on her comb. This is what got me thinking about the canker as I read. I will be ordering the Fishzole tomorrow if I can't buy it locally. I...
Thank you so much for your input. I'm hoping the local feed store has the meds for canker when they open tomorrow. I also need to check TSC... maybe they would have it. I had just called them to see if they have the vaccine for the fowlpox to give the girls that aren't showing symptoms and...
I don't have any advice to offer but wanted to send a prayer out your way. I had a sick girl with coccidiosis a few months back. I was lucky that she made it and noone else got it. This place is just such a wealth of info. I'm so happy to have found it.
I just wanted to post a followup incase anyone was looking at this thread. Cleo made it... the vet did think it was the coccidiosis and I treated her and the rest of the flock with the Corid. The vet was ridiciously expensive $120 but I got some great info. I have another sick girl now...
I noticed Queenie was having respiratory problems about four days ago. About the same time I noticed some of my other chickens were getting the black warts on their combs. I didn't realize it could possibly be the same thing. But now I'm wondering if this is canker in Queenies mouth? Besides...
I went to TSC last night looking for some. There was a bag that said it was for calfs but I had no idea how much to give her. DO you think that is what it is? I saw no blood in her poo at all. Dang this being a chicken mama is stressful.
Well I've made an appt with the Vet for today. Probably silly but I can't stand just letting her lay there and possibly die :( And then if my other girls get it
I have 16 hens and all but one are well. We noticed yesterday morning that she was hiding and not feeling well. Just kinda sits hunkered down and her rear end is all wet and poopy. Her poop is really watery with a bit of dark greenish spots in it (almost livery looking and some white running...
Thanks for the tips. I did cover it last night with chicken wire. It sounds like I'll be switching out to a bigger box so I guess I won't worry about making the wire too permanent. I checked on them several times last night and the temp seemed to stay between 90 and 95 in the lit corner of...
Hi there.. I just got my 12 new chicks today from TSC. I noticed they had the chicks all in brooders with the pine shaving bedding. I've read online that you shouldn't put chicks in this until they are a few weeks old. Which is correct?? I have moved them onto papertowels at this point but...
