Gonna try to post this again with an edited photo. Found this in a nesting box yesterday and unsure of what it is. My hens are all young and just beginning to lay. All our eggs have been normal and hard healthy shelled. No one is acting differently but reading about lash eggs is really stressing...
I wondered about that too. At this point with the eggs being so small it was hard to totally tell if the shape was slightly different. And hard to say when BO and BR lay such similar colors.
Do these eggs appear to be from the same chicken or different? One was laid yesterday, one was today. The darker of the two is definitely from my BO. Unsure if the lighter is from my BR? Or my BO…
Beautiful eggs!! Ours wound up being from our Buff Orpington. The very next day I saw her hop right into the box and sure enough laid a twin egg. Good luck finding your chicken!!
I have a barred rock and buff Orpington who may have laid this egg. Any egg experts who can tell me which one it was? It’s our first egg. Wasn’t home when it happened.
My oldest three hens are 19 weeks old. My olive egger sure looks close to laying her first egg based off her comb and waddles but I’m new to this and wondering how long it may be? Can they be this developed for weeks before laying?
Thank you! We have interacted daily in safe and calm settings. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a cockerel but hopeful it’s not and that we can encourage a more friendly bond!
Totally reasonable response based off what I’ve provided and understand your thoughts. I’m not opposed to finding an alternative solution if we can’t resolve the issues but wanted to jump on here and get feedback and ideas from others. It seems most people think I have a cockerel which would...
Yes we take them out daily and I do heavily monitor my kiddo with them too. I’m super cautious about those things. I did try taking jewelry off this afternoon because I was wondering if my rings and bracelets may have been causing some of the pecking lol. We had a little better of an interaction!
