Went to lockdown yesterday with 45 eggs out of 48, yesterday afternoon we had severe weather and lost electricity for 5 hrs and my bator temp went down to 78 degrees. Any hope on my eggs to hatch?
Just candled the 48 eggs set 8 days ago.
1 unfertile
1 blood ring
1 stopped developing
45 eggs left but one has a hair thin crack but still developing and moving around inside ( don't know how I missed that one when setting them) 13 more days to go.
Thanks, I just readjusted the height of my heat lamp. I live way down in south Texas my the Mexican border and our temps here usually run mid to upper 80's during the day and mid to upper 50's during the night. My brooder is outside under my coop and I turn off their lamp at noon and turn it...
I removed the grass cuttings yesterday and replaced it with the saw dust, well it's actually shavings too big for them to eat. If the grass cuttings was the issue hopefully I won't have more dead chicks.
It can't be the food since I've been feeding over 100 quails that hatched also along those days and none have died on me. I got 60 ranging from 2-3 months, if it were a desease or infection of some kind I would of had some of them diying. Did have 3 of my 3 months old sneezing and watery eyes...
Weather is nice upper 80's during day to upper 50's during night and our humidity ranges from 50-60 according to our hygrometer so that's why I'm gonna try the dry method this time around.
So my last batch was pretty good 75 eggs set 15 were total of unfertiled and blood rings by the 18th day so 60 went to lockdown and 54 hatched. Fast forward 14 days later and I have 30 chicks remaining, everyday I pick up one or two dead. Don't understand why. They have plenty of space got them...

So I noticed this morning that 3 of my chickens are sneezing and watery eyes. Went to the feed store and got me Tylan 50 injectable and was told I could give it orally 1/2 cc. My question is Can I mix it with their drinking water so that all the flock get a dose of it and how much of it should I...
First 30 seramas were from eBay so the mailing had something to do with it. Then another 20 from my own flock that started laying during the incubation of the first batch. Also my silkies started laying at the same time but my rooster one morning found him dead without any known cause. 9!eggs of...
I'm no expert, just started hatching 2 months ago and started with Seramas and silkies. Then I heard bantams are hard to hatch and if hatched they are too sensitive to raise. I incubated over 40 seramas and hatched 15 which all died, 12 Silkies 9 hatched and only 1 left till today, got another...
I've hatched Seramas and Silkies and yes, most of them hatched at day 19 or 20 but sad to say they all have died 3 to 4 days after hatching.... I'm not gonna hatch bantams anymore too frustrating incubating and hatching them to loose them a couple days later.
Here some pics of the babies hatching since yesterday morning. So far 26 have hatched from the 30 that went to lockdown. I've been calling them mutts but my friend who I got this eggs from explained to me that what I have is sex links since his males are Rhoad Island Reds and his females are...
Darn it!!! Found two of my silkies dead this morning. The first from the 30th and the last one of the 4th. The one that hatched on the 2nd is fine and another one hatched this morning was due yesterday. Still got the 8th 10th and 12th.
My 30 mutts n lockdown started hatching this morning, I've got 19 hatched so far and still have 8 pips including my 4th Silkie. I'll post some pics soon.
