Black one has no combs. Only the white one has combs. Driving home right now to take some pics. The white one is the only one with combs. Also has some massive feet.
Hi all!!
I know this is a dumb question but can anyone tell by looking at the pics which one might be a rooster? I heard crowing today and by the time I checked, it stopped.
I've been cleaning it but any ideas how else to fix it? Personally I don't think it's going to make it but I'll keep trying until it either starts growing or passes away. Giving it a chance at life.
Hi everyone!
So I tried to hatch two guineafowl eggs. Unfortunately one didn't hatch and one hatched but seems too small. Hatched normally at like day 30. The thing is the pictures I posted is the keet at 3 days old. It has spraddle leg so I put a rubber band on the legs to help it. Walking...
I hope you are right lol. I had a total of 6 chickens that I got as babies. 2 I hatched and 4 I purchased from Tractor Supply. My two American Bresse that I hated turned out to be roosters and one of my bantams also was a rooster. I have 3 left but only one is a silkie. I hope you are right...
Hi all!
I have this silkie bantam I purchased at Tractor Supply. Initially I thought it was a female but now I'm not so sure. Apparently silkies take a while to mature. From the pictures shown, Amy guesses?
Hey sorry for not updating. Sadly he didn't make it through the night. Woke up and he looked to be dead for a while. The other chicks were kind of walking on him. I had 2 out of 10 eggs hatch. Next time I am doing much better with checking Temps and humidity to ensure it matches the incubator...
Awesome. Let me try. She does have space to get away from heat if necessary. I'll try everything else you said though. I'll also cut out the sugar water for now.
So I have actually been giving her yolk and sugar/salt water through the syringe. For the last 4 days. She doesn't seem to be getting better. The fluff got better but the chirping is non stop until she sleeps. Brooder temp is always between 95-100. Other chicks are fine. She won't peck at her...
So I hatched 3 chicks on Sunday and Monday of this week. The last chick to hatch might have a bit early. Egg had a lot more stuff in it then the other two. He finally fluffed up a bit but he hasn't been eating or drinking. I have to feed him sugar water and egg yolk through a syringe. Without...
Anyone? Help??? I put some neosporin on his butt and move him under the brooder heat lamp. I out him inside a paper towel inside of a cup to keep him from moving around. He was on his back a lot inside the bator and his legs were twitching alot. Not sure if he is slowly dying, if he was cold, no...
It hatched on Monday night. So I just had the last one hatch now and I think I may have assisted too early. I see a little yellow stuff and blood at the butt of chick.
It really is. I tried to wait and I guess I should have. I have another one that I assisted a little and now I'm not so sure if I should have. I did purchase a new incubator with a grovee thermometer for my future hatch. This next batch will be entirely different. This forum is an amazing source...
Update: March 29th. I tried to leave it an extra 12 hours as other posters had advised across the forum for chicks that pip on the wrong end. The chick didn't make it unfortunately. So this time I might intervene in the last pipped egg. Otherwise I'm sure it will meet the same end. Thanks...
