    My hens have spent the entire spring/summer being broody. I thought I had broken them of the habit but removing eggs, closing the hatch during the day - all too many times. Anyway, they are old. Next year I'll get them some fertilised eggs and see what happens.

    The primary school locally has an annual chick hatching session each year. I have three hens and thought I take in a few chicks. The week old chicks stayed in until week two/three and then I started to introduce them to the rest but brought them in at night because it was quite cool still...

    I know it took longer than a week but I hadn't noticed any change in her until last few days when I investigated. Hard to tell where it is attached. Tomorrow I'll be having a long session with her bathing her foot to see what exactly is going on.

    My beautiful golden chicken hen (aged 8) started limping about a week ago. My friend who has raised chickens for years is mystified as to what this gigantic growth on her foot is. It is hard and is attached to her foot. Can anyone help please.
