    Yes when used with a proper thermostat. But 900 watts is quite a bit of overkill and I would be leary of it starting a fire if not installed properly. 200 watts would be plenty for a fairly large cabinet.

    Not sure if its visible from the pictures but about 4" above the top egg turner is a plywood tray that the water pan sets on. It sits right in front of the fans so air blows across the water tray drawing moisture into the rest of the incubator.

    Update: My second hatch has had a 70% hatch rate. 21 out of 28 that were put in lockdown. I am very happy with that hatch rate. After 2 big hatches I think I have decided to put contact paper under the hatch tray for easy cleanup. Those bits of broken eggshell are a mess.

    wait till the chicks are about 8 weeks old to feed the treats. Young chicks just need their starter/grower rations and really don't need grit for that. I don't give them grit until I start feeding them cracked grains.
