Oh, wow! Thank you so much for all that info!
They had her at the CMPD Animal Care and Control center in Charlotte, NC. They also had a Courier pigeon, but I was a little afraid to take her home with me since I have zero experience with indoor birds (and, ya know. My husband might tell me to...
The shelter said they already clipped her wings! I’m assuming she was probably flying all around the room she was in and made a mess! She has been an ANGEL also far! A little shy, of course, but once she warmed up to me, she sat on my lap for probably 2 hours!
Thank you for the advice about...
good evening, everyone!
I went by my local animal shelter today to pick up a hen they had posted on Facebook, but I was too late! Someone else had already picked her up! So, the worker told me they had a duck, so I took a look at her and fell in LOVE! What kind do y’all think she is? Any advice...
Y’all are absolutely incredible! Thank you all so much. You’ve absolutely made me feel better and definitely given me some things to think about. Thank you times a million!!
hey, there!
A couple of days ago, I lost one of my hens. She was four and a half. She seemed to have lost strength in her legs. She could walk, but not very well and not very far. She was doing a lot of flapping. I isolated her, just in case. Two days after isolation, she passed. Well, I came...
hello chicken mamas and daddies!
I am still less than a year into having my flock, but I have no idea what kinds of chickens I have. I know my roo is a Rhode Island, and I have two girls that are lavenders, but I’m stumped on the others. Any ideas?
Thanks, y’all! ♥️
Well, I’ve been telling her (and her sisters) every single day since they’ve been mine how beautiful they are. My husband thinks I’m crazy for it, but the rooster has only pecked me once and he gets pecked nearly every time he goes in their area! It probably isn’t related, but I’ll never tell...
Thank you so much for that. I’m just new and easily influenced. I’m so glad that we can all agree this is a hen. Now I don’t have to change her name. If you have any other advice for these beauty queens, I’d love to hear it!
I feel so bad for this chicken. Can you imagine what it would be like if your mom posted a picture of you on the internet and people were debating your sex this much?
That’s exactly what I thought. They were 5 when we got them, they lived in their own little area, away from the others for about a month, then we put everyone together. I figured by now, it would crow if it was a boy. My RIR roo crowed from what seems like the second we brought him home at two...
As promised, here are some other views of the babies. Sorry they’re a day late, work was absolutely insane yesterday and my husband took care of the girls for me.
That’s true. It’s just frustrating. I want so badly to be a good chicken Mama and I don’t feel like I am since I can’t even tell the difference between a boy and a girl.
