does anyone know how I can introduce a chick or chicken to our now 18 month old flock. I cant imagine my girls tolerating another hen,or roo for that matter,but I would like to try. and what would be better, a chick that I raise,or a full grown hen ?

yes...yes.... I totally agree. my ladies mean a lot to me,and even though I "use" them for eggs, they are still my pets. so that being said, bring on the treats ! a lot of my friends think im nuts to treat them like say: our cats, but they really are no different as far as personality...
I agree it looks to me like an EE as well. and unfortunately a roo also. :( but this might be the question of the day ??

that is just goofy !! hahaha mine stand on top of one-another in their nesting boxes. the white leghorns specially fight over one box on the top left in their hutch. I have 5 boxes,for 12 girls,but they have to have that one certain box,and if someone else is in there,they just sit right...
I was kind of surprised also. but I didn't notice her doing it at first. I thought there was something wrong with her,then I talked to my friend in texas,and she said, she is turning broody !! keep taking her out of the box every time you see her in there,and then she will finally stop. but...
