So... my friend has a silkie flock of all mixed colors, including black, splash, blues, whites, paints and a porcelain. I have hatched out chicks from her and I've gotten paint, splash, partridge and one that has the partridge chick markings but is silver/blue. Now she has hatched out this crazy...
Someone has them. They're hoarding them all and not sharing!! and maniacally laughing at us in our futile attempts which will inevitably lead some of us to go *gasp* to a hatchery!!! Oh the shame
Looking for large fowl/giant cochin hatching eggs in an assortment of colors, partridge, laced, solids, columbians.... Just want a colorful flock of giant fluffballs running around :D
I like the ONE that looks like a marans too lol! Our neighbors don't have chickens and our marans are the only ones laying, besides my duck but there's no mixing up those eggs! Our only other breed is standard cochin, but they aren't a month old yet. I just don't get it.
So, I have black copper marans. I just hatched out my second small batch of chicks. The first batch was full of everything a black copper marans clutch should be. This second batch... not so much?? I don't understand!
Let him go camp out with the babies for the night or at least until they settle down so he knows they're okay and he's just a sucker? My birds still go off at bedtime and some of them are pretty old! ... come to think of it, so do my featherless and furless children lol
I've found that"Birds of a feather stick together" when it comes to color. Not even breed though lol! If I was limited to 4, I would get all different breeds for a variety of color. They'll be discouraged from forming cliques too.
There was only 1 chick in with the one with the exposed brain and that was the one getting picked on when I took the other chicks out of the incubator. I guess it's just one of those things that happen, but man... I mean I have had 4 kids in unassisted home births. I pop em out, clean up the...
Only my second hatch out of my incubator. I purchased 18 local standard cochin eggs, out of those 18, 8 were viable. 6 chicks hatched out without a problem, they started picking at one who pipped an abnormally large hole and got it bleeding pretty good at which point I had 1 last egg with a...
I have 3 bcm roos. They are really pretty, and very tolerant of my children. Boy oh boy that crow lol!! They tell the sun it's almost time to wake up at 3:30am and when the moon is hitting the snooze button for it, they go in 10 min intervals until the sun finally gets it's lazy butt out of bed...
Well the overall summary pretty much summed it up. I hate hatching these birds in the incubator. That's my only valid complaint I guess. I have seen a couple others say theirs are terminally broody, I've never had one go broody. It'd be nice. I wouldn't be trying to candle opaque eggs if they...
