WOW! This is news to me. I tend to stay away from all social media and news coverage, it doesn't always work out. I would be devastated to have to euthanize my flock.
In my personal experience, turkey hens tend to explore and toms love to follow hens. Even though I raise all my turkeys from poults, I still have to keep them in a pen because they will venture farther than I am comfortable with.
By no means am I an expert but I keep my turkeys and chickens together, until a certain age. I only separate them because my turkeys become flighty, well the hens do. I can free range my toms and keep them with my chickens but I don't usually have excess toms. In my specific case, there is no...
Ah! I see. No I am not a breeder and am not interested in breeding for a specific color. I do however, like to know and learn, and I thank you for sharing your knowledge with me. I've done some reading and have learned that most peafowl may carry different color possibilities. I guess I find it...
Sorry one more question,
What leads you to believe that she has/may have white in her? Not that I don't believe you, but just for my personal knowledge bank. The more you learn, the more you know.
That's great news to me! Thank you very much.
As a matter of fact I do have a white peacock.
How old does she appear to be? Or do the pictures I uploaded not show her age
Hello Pea community!
Was hoping for some reassurance. I purchased what I was told is a black shoulder peahen, that is just shy of a year old. I'm not an expert and I just want to run it by you all here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. She does appear to be healthy but if you all see...
We just did our BBW tom yesterday. He weighed in at 43.6 pounds after the feathers, head & feet. Don't know why I weighed him then, I could have weighed him alive or I guess I can still weigh him now that he's been cleaned and gutted. Anywho, this is my first year doing a bird this big and my...
Hello Marthab1953! I would love to see & possibly purchase some Polish from you. Of course if and when they are available. Feel free to PM me or with your permission I can PM you. Thank you & I look forward to meeting up!
Batchhatchin, I respectfully agree. Not that there is something wrong with improvement, but more along the lines of the IncuView is great at what it does, for what it is, and how much it costs. Like stated earlier, anyone considering this incubator or looking for an incubator in the IncuView's...
Well 2 of the 24 that made it to lock down were bantam eggs and those two hatched on day 19. The others hatched early day 21. I would call it a day and a half to two days apart. I had placed the four bantam eggs that originally went in, near the turner. Two on each side. Only two of the four...
I did run my Incuview just as it came. I trusted the humidity gauge & the digital thermometer reading. I set 29 eggs during the middle of winter. Day temps were right around mid 30's & night temps were in high teens. I was worried about low fertility rates due to the cold. Of the 29 I set, 24...
Catwings, I am not familiar with giving turkeys elderberry. Sorry but I won't be able to adive/comment on that, I will say that after administering the third shot of Tylan 50, your turkey should be better in a week or so. I would wait the week out and see how it is doing then. At that point, if...
Thank you Blue Creek Farm!! Bird genetics continue to surprise me. It seems like there are a lot of nice color possibility. I really like the pied ones. I'm not sure but I think I like the multiple colors on a single bird, at least for peafowl. Still do like them all and have so much respect for...
