I have a hen that was broody for about 2-3 weeks. I kept on forcing her out of the box twice a day so she could eat and drink. I kept the box empty of the other hens eggs. Just when I was about to confine her to a quarantine cage she started to break on her own. It took about 2-3 days and she...
I started with 2 RI Reds and 2 EE. One EE turned out to be a roo so sent him to live on a farm. They are about 9 months old now. I’ve had them since about 5 days old. They roam free in the backyard all day and we lock them up at night. The coop is huge. Plenty room for everybody. They are all...
I keep pushing her out of the box encouraging her to take a break and keeping the eggs out so there's nothing for her to sit on hoping she'll break on her own.
I have my first broody hen. For about a week now, she she isn't laying her own eggs and just sitting on the other two hen's eggs or none at all. I make her go out of the box twice a day to eat and drink but she just goes back in after I leave. They are unfertilized eggs. I don't know if I...
My girls are three months old. They’ve been in their coop for two months. Up until last week they were putting themselves to bed by dark. We would just have to go out and secure them. Lately they come to the windows and doors and start squaking loudly and try to roost on everything they can’t...
My girls get so loud right before the sun goes down. They will come looking for me and peck on the glass window where we watch TV. They act like they want to go to bed. They usually put themselves to bed around 8pm and are just sitting on their roost when we go to shit the door. Just recently we...
I live in Florida too. I just started with babies two months ago. I set them up on the outdoor patio in a ventilated bin and I never used a lamp. I put a thermometer in the bottom with them and made sure they stayed about 95 degrees for first few weeks. They did great!
Well if I’m forced to rehome the girls I know someone that will take them but I don’t even want to think about that!! This has been a stressful few days. I’ve made a few calls for mr Louie but nothing yet.
7“Thelma”is the beautiful other Easter Egger. She’s my favorite, she walks on my lap and lets me pet her. The two RI Reds are very friendly and are the easiest to pickup. They all surround me when I sit with them. I hope they are both hens!
Those are my girls. Just checking!
