I don't know if this one is THE first egg from whichever hen it was-didn't catch her in the act But they only started laying a week ago last Tuesday so I'm really, really excited!

Ahem, my husband said squealing like a little girl while running around telling everyone and taking pictures of a double yolk egg might have elevated me to "nerd farm girl" status

I got my first double yolker this year. My husband said “I get to eat it cause it was from MY bird” elevated him from a just tolerant chicken person. To a proud PaPa.
It never gets old!!

BTW...you can freeze eggs too. Just scramble them up and put them in a freezer baggie. Works great! I get to eat my fresh eggs even in the dead of winter.

Congrats on your beautiful egg!!! Today I found 2 green eggs in the nest boxes so I figured one of my EEs must have laid her first egg today(only one had been laying), only to be out in the run later and find a teeny tiny blue/green egg right in the middle of the run half covered in leaves and very dirty. So I guess today must not have been her first egg after all!
