Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Sorry for not posting anything in a while, I don't mean to worry anyone. Only reply I got to the ad I placed was from a scammer. Went to look at one place, which would have been perfect as they raised chickens and ducks and had no problems with the rabbits, but it fell through when I said I...

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

I'm on the list, which is several years long. But it's just for this county. I need to apply to other counties, but their waiting list is probably also years long. If I hadn't had to buy a generator (or pay the rent here for three months in trying to prove I was more trustworthy and get the...

That's just it though. I can't find anywhere that is affordable. Even renting an outhouse would cost more than I make per month.

...my daughter got into a HUGE screaming match with him (assuming he never told her he'd called the cops), and I swear I heard threats being made. *I* called the cops back, as I was so scared that he would do something to my daughter. He got a talking to from the police officers, but they...

You don't need a pond, especially with scovies. ;)

I have a rampaging raccoon on my hands... Well, wish it was in my hands so I could strangle it!!! Since Friday, I have lost 5 brahma and 3 call ducks. And I thought they were secure. Adding more security stuff now. More bolts and latches and hardware cloth.

🤨 You're the same age as me! I might actually enter my new girl in the Spencerville show. As for Netherland Dwarfs... BLEH! :lau I just don't like them, lol!

...that dewlap was just getting too big and so I checked again late last week, and sure enough that wasn't male equipment! So, I did the only thing I *could* do and promptly got her bred! :lau The remaining orphaned kits are still alive! They are over six weeks old now, so chances are that...

Sad news... Lost one of my favourite does and two of her kits to the heat. Six kits survived (managed to cool them off enough), and they are 5 weeks old today so hopefully they will do okay without their mom.

It's been restored now. That storm was wild. Sheet lightning like strobe lights constantly and heavy downpours for well over an hour. Windy enough to have blown off the roof from one of my new rabbit cages. Poor bunnies got an unwanted shower. No other damage that I could see though. All...

Of COURSE we had a massive storm (the likes of which I have never seen!) and the power goes out! It's not fair!!! No idea when power will be restored either.

I didn't want to say anything until it was actually done, but... POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED!!! The owner/landlord had it put in their name. It's wonderful to be on the computer without the loud drone of the generator in the background! Actually, it's weird. I will be devouring the internet...

Oh, forgot about that. One saving grace in my situation is an old-fashioned hand pump. It's a pain filling the buckets to water the animals, but better than having to purchase those big bottles.
