Cochin pullet won't come out of nest box

Update: I keep chucking Gigi out of the nest, but she's intractable. I even keep her out of the coop/run area, but as soon as I let her back in, she's marching that fluffy butt right back to where she was. I suspect she'll be a tough nut to crack: docile but determined. As soon as the...

Cochin pullet won't come out of nest box

Man, thanks all! I suspected broodiness, but being completely new to the chicken game, thought that I must be crazy. She's so young, and still a little daffy about the egg-laying (we used to find her eggs all over the place, but now she's pleasantly eccentric enough to sit in the nest box and...

Cochin pullet won't come out of nest box

I have a six and a half month pullet who has been listless for the past couple of days. She stayed in the nest box for far longer than the other girls (much to their displeasure) for a few days, but now she won't come out at all. She pecked me when I reached in to check for injuries, the first...

Free 5 Wk. Old Golden Campine Roo in Portland, OR

I've got a lovely, accidental roo that I got as a part of my backyard flock, and I just adore him. But he's a roo, and he's now crowing, and either he goes or the peace of the neighborhood goes. So I have to get rid of him, much to my disappointment. He's already a looker, and smooth with the...

Campine specialists OR "My, that's an awfully large comb you've got!"

We're city slickers, and we're not allowed the boys. Plus, my neighbors are awesome; I'd hate to make a good thing go sour because The Bean wanted to wake everyone for blocks. So sad though. I just love The Bean. He's as sweet as can be, and a lover not a fighter. For now, anyway!

Also, that Sigmund is one beauty of a Campine roo, if I do say so myself!

Campine specialists OR "My, that's an awfully large comb you've got!"

Auuuuugh! Confirming my (admittedly amateur) suspicions, three of four replies say ROO! Thanks to all...except for the chicken sexer, who really didn't do me any favors! This is the second out of five chickens we're going to have to rehome. And s/he's so sweet, too! Ah, well. At least we...

Campine specialists OR "My, that's an awfully large comb you've got!"

Hi! First post, lonnnnng reader/lurker. I've got a little two-week-old Golden Campine chick that is raising some eyebrows around here. She came from a sexed order, but she's awfully well endowed with a rather large comb, especially when compared to the other girls (none of whom are Campines)...
