You are totally correct on that. The point of her comment was - to get the process of getting to the hospital started, not waiting for any reason. I dought there are very many people that live close enough to walk or run to a hospital.
My DD killed a rattler in their garden where they were planting beans in Coffey Co. (eastern Ks.) . She posted the link to a site that tells how to treat a snake bite. Hope no one needs to use the info.

Here is a search page for JOHNSON GRASS TOXICITY. I did not open many of the sites (slow computer) but it looks like some information is there.

If anyone is looking for a big dog pup - I saw two dogs that were this mix several years ago. They were very pretty and the people had them in a big yard with geese and other poultry. I wish I could handle a big dog now, I would be very...
Are you transfering the bees to the hive? (sorry if I missed the explanation) It is fascinating.
Long time ago, I lived next door to my land lord and he kept bees at his farm. One day, a swarm landed on a shed at the house behind us. He quickly went into action to catch them. Now that was...
Growing up in Ks, we were told to open windows also. The reason I remember was in regards to the change in air pressure and if a window was open (even just cracked a bit) the sudden change in pressure when a tornado comes close would not be as likely to break the windows.
I was in Emporia...
Yesterday I checked one of the muscovy nests that I knew was going to be a staggered hatch. One duckling was hatching, so I took it to make sure that duck continued to sit on the rest of the eggs. I went to check the other nest. The duck flared a bit and gave a warning. She had a duckling...
gryeyes - that is such a cute picture of those goslings with the cute packing peanuts. My packing peanuts look like they are wearing "jail bird" outfits now (black and white stripes).
Thanks for the idea! I love yogurt!! That is another reason to get real milk. I had been buying lots of yogurt and then read the label. I don't buy that yogurt anymore. So much to learn.
I would take the hatched ones out. I think they do more damage running all over the unhatched eggs leaving them in and they do want to start eating also.
Since I have never used "lockdown" rules and never even heard the term until recently, I don't worry about opening a bater to do what needs...
I was working a job where I picked up people from outlying areas and took them to their appointments in town and then back home. One day there was an unusual amount that were south of town and I went through a very small town to get them. Lots of trips through that town. There was a curve at...
I am going to do it - I am going to order some glass gallon jars - so I can buy some raw milk. I could use plastic milk jugs, but it is so hard to get them clean.
I remember the raw milk we had when I was a kid and am looking forward to having the cream - to use on hot cereal and so many...

Frank Reese raises them in Kansas. Look at #11 of the breed listings.
I think there is someone in the northern part of the US that has some, don't remember who.
Ducklings give new meaning to old sayings:
"Suck It Up" What they do to their food.
"Let It All Out: What they do to their food after they have processed it for a while.
Can you guess I have some new ducklings to care for?
Wishing you and your family the best with your new life in a new state. I cannot even imagine what you are going through - all of you.
They make those little chicken houses that look like a garbage can. Maybe that would conceal you breakfast makers?
My only contact with a rat was when my grand daughters rat needed a cage cleaned while she was at school. It was a school project left over that she took home to keep and they were still learning how to take care of it. The wrong bedding is not a good thing. So, to get new bedding in fast, my...
On the subject of snakes, I was told there have been two rattlesnake bites in Ks this spring and there are extra high numbers of rattlers out. One was in either Coffee or Lyon Co. Be careful!!!
