I have two females that are laying, these eggs are darn near impossible to breach, the shell breaks fine but the membrane is so tough by the time I get it open the yolk is ruined. I am feeding gamebird starter at 24% protein. Thanks for any replies.
I am using a separate thermometer/hygrometer but it is digital so I didn't do a salt test didn't know if that would damage it. Both units read very close

@Blooie thanks so much for the detailed reply I did pick up the recommened heating pad today because I am also not sold on the heating mat. I will look forward to seeing whether or not I need to add a light. They will be inside for the first week then out to the garage.
