    Prolapse?

I have a 3 year old isa brown. We saw blood all on her buttt area and thought it was from a predator but when I washed her up I saw she has two large swollen masses. She’s able to poop. It’s very watery white with some normal looking bird feces in it. She’s the one who ripped the top mass open...

    Dog attack

I’m posting mainly to share because it’s been traumatic. I was given a Muscovy duck that had been neglected. I was getting her health up and she was doing much better, still a shy girl (1-1/2 year old). My chickens and ducks free range. We have a lab puppy who’s five months old and getting teeth...

    Dirty White Muscovy Duck

Up close she’s very crusty. She doesn’t feel like any of my other birds.

    Dirty White Muscovy Duck

I did wash her with soap when I got her. Twice. She looked better than now but she still didn’t look or feel fluffy when she dried. And she’s back to square one minus external bugs so it doesn’t seem worth it. She’s not being bullied. If anything, she tells everyone else to get out of her way...

    Dirty White Muscovy Duck

I saved a white Muscovy duck from a farmer who couldn’t take care of her. She’s now bug free and laying and seems super happy and healthy...Except, she’s not white. She looks dirty and her feathers are crusty feeling. Her oil gland looks great and I see her preening so I’m not sure what the...

    Muscovy questions

Thank you. I’ve used a huge amount of dish soap in the past and it’s done the trick better than any dusting powder, but I did follow up with diatomaceous earth on her and around her. I won’t put her in my coop until I know she’s clear. I’ll try the warm compress. Thanks.

    Muscovy questions

I just rescued a Muscovy duck from a farmer who didn’t want her. She was crusted with a hard layer over her feathers, her feathers are very tattered, she was covered in mites and fleas and a few ticks, and has one foot turned in from lack of proper food. I’ve bathed her twice and think I’ve...

    Duck won’t sit

It is the underside that comes off and starts the unraveling so I’ll try that. Thanks.

    Duck won’t sit

I did take her to a vet. He wrapped it and she had it off by morning. I keep rewrapping it but she’s determined. As long as it’s normal to sleep standing then I won’t worry as much. She’s been through a lot and is finally starting to seem more like her normal self.

    Duck won’t sit

My duck has lots of hereditary problems but is starting to get better....manageable. She broke her wing and won’t sit. Even in the middle of the night when I peek at her she’s standing. Is there anything different I can do?

    Hereditary Wry Neck

Thank you. She’s really responding to the eye cream and seems so much more calm so hopefully she’ll get a good nights sleep.

    Hereditary Wry Neck

I could see bone. I did re-bandage her wing. After bringing her in and bandaging her I saw she has a small crack at the base of her beak on the bottom side. I’m afraid to look way in her mouth to see the extent of the damage but it’s definitely the beak and tongue. Since I put the cream on her...

    Hereditary Wry Neck

She got a lot worse very suddenly. She fell and broke her wing. I took her to a vet who wrapped her wing and gave me vitamin b shots, stuff to tube feed her, told me to stop selenium because they can be overdosed, but keep up the vitamin e, and Celebrex for pain and inflammation. She kept the...

    Hereditary Wry Neck

I’m looking at photos from the first four weeks and she does have a “slouch” in her neck that I didn’t recognize as a problem. She could have had a slight bend that got more pronounced as she got a little older.

    Hereditary Wry Neck

I didn’t notice it until 2 weeks ago. It seemed like her head was closer to her body then. That’s why I said it looks better. But even with all the vitamins (and having brewers yeast since she was a few days old) she doesn’t seem to be straightening out fully.

    Hereditary Wry Neck

Yes. When I feel it it’s a hard crook in the neck. A hard angle.
