Well it is set to heat to 37.5 c but unless I insulate on the outside it will not get to maybe 32 c and then when insulated I can get it up to temp. The lights are not dimmed but I have to really mash on the buttons to get it to the manual adjustments.. at that point I can scroll through but...
I have used the Magicfly 12 egg with turner 3 times so far and have had amazing success with my Serama eggs, suddenly when I turned it on to get it prepped for another batch it could not reach temp.. cannot get it over 89 F. Computer is slow to respond if at all and I cannot get it to adjust...
Well it seems I have confirmation, the white flecks on the comb is what I was concerned with .. had not seen it happen in my limited experience with chickens. I guess it's just because she's broody.
I have heard that this may be just because she is broody but I am on who likes to have multiple opinion so take a look at this photo and tell me what you think. It appeared very quickly but does not appear to have any affect on her.
It's been pretty wet and fairly cold for this region over the last week .. have had heat lamps going and the coop is vented and dry from what I can tell. My understanding is that Pox is usually more prone to chickens in damp environments but she has by sitting now for about a week and rarely...
Question on Tylan 50 injectable.. We had a sudden cold front drop us to low 30's with snow ( very unusual here since we were in the high 70's 3 days ealier) my Hen is now shaking her head and wheezing with open mouth breathing.. was going to use Tylan soluble but am afraid I will need it to be...
In my opinion the easiest and cheapest way to use this is to only use the trampoline pad for shade and find yourself a free or cheap playhouse and attach.. those playhouse's are easy to convert to a coop... plus they come with window shutters usually so it is kind a nice.. I see one like this...
Well this thread is really old so I figured I would freshen it up with my own semi mystery .. this hen was sold to me as a Serama but I am just not 100%. Any help would be appreciated.. In case anyone takes me serious the old thread thing was a inside joke.. I always have a habit of commenting...
Good info thanks, at what age can you sex them? I have a couple showing a ridge down head center and others not.. was wondering if that was indicative of a Roo or not. Also I have one who loves to challenge the others it seems .. does not do anything aggressive just runs up standing tall and...
So I have a couple questions.. when do Serama chicks start showing there true colors? Also what is the average price if I sell any of these chicks? I have seen prices all up and down the spectrum but I am not looking to get over on anyone just curious at what a fair and reasonable asking price...
I just hatched 7 out of 7 on Halloween, live in South Texas and kept them at 45% + or = 3% until lockdown then kept them at about 65% + or = 5 %. First time incubating so maybe I got lucky lol.
Auto turned, only had to assist one guy who zipped the wrong way.
Oh and by the way the Brown Egg is a mix .. Daddy is a huge Barred Rock and Mom is a Rhode Island Red. Picked up from my work because I was interested to see how they would turn out.
Well 4 hatched and 4 doing well.. I have one pipped and another soon to follow .. keeping fingers crossed.. first time doing this .. some mistakes made but so far so good.. Here's the crew.. all are Halloween babies except for the black one.. that one hatched this morning.
you nailed it .. the part out of line was done first. How do you determine clockwise from counter on an egg .. is it like looking down the barrel small end towards you?
Well he is out, seems okay at the moment, very small bit of bleeding from his rectum when he initially got out but it stopped instantly and shows no traces of continuing. there were no remaining vessels and nothing alarming once the portion of the shell was removed other than he came out rear...
