To clarify my question: I think/hope that the sex linking would appear as a lighter or darker "chipmunk" down pattern (somewhat similar to what you see with bielefelder or cream legbar chicks). Do you agree?
But I have some uncertainty regarding the interaction of the cream from the Legbar...
Hello Nicalandia - Thank you so much for taking questions! That's very kind of you to take the time to share your knowledge.
I have been thinking about barred sex links. If we put a Welsummer roo over a Cream Legbar hen, would you expect the chicks be visually sex-linked?
Thanks so much for the responses everyone! Well if anyone ever gets their hands on some of these "Speckled Eggers" or hears of anyone else who has some.... I'm in the market for some hatching eggs! :) Until then I'll enjoy my welsummers.
Honestly, considering how many people would want these if Cackle could perfect them... You're probably right that they're just running into practical issues with creating this line. If they could produce a bunch of these they definitely would haha. $$$
Hey thanks so much for asking them!! Ha the page has definitely been up for years with no pictures. I do wonder why they don't add some pictures or else take down the listing... Maybe they were available at some point and I just missed it.
I've been occasionally checking the page for Cackle Hatchery's Speckled Egger for several years now and I've never actually seen them in stock. Does anyone out there actually have these chickens?? I'm starting to believe they're not real!
If they are pullets or still-laying hens you could probably sell relatively easily on Craigslist or facebook marketplace. Might not be able to sell them all together though.
I'm new but trying to learn about the genotypes of my chickens! I have these 3 I'm particularly curious about. If anyone has any ideas about the genotypes (related especially to their coloring) I'd really appreciate it!!
This first two were sold to me as Ameraucanas:
#1 I am guessing is...
