Has anyone noticed their animals acting not themselves?
I have a serama that sleeps inside but goes out to the main coop for the day. This morning when I opened her cage she just sat there, usually she comes out and talks and is sassy. When I put her outside she usually runs to the coop and she...
I like your thinking! Hopefully it will clean up so I can see what’s going on better. I’m positive there is some sort of lump and there is a disconnect with his food/water getting fully to the crop.
I just checked him and the mass has gone down. I know forsure there is a lump on his neck but maybe food got mixed with feathers making the mass appear larger and the application of the oil worked the ball apart?
I don’t think so. The mass looks like it’s coming out from his neck. I’m hoping the mass will shrink with the oil and maybe easier to tell. I’ve just it several times before with positive results. I guess it will depend on what it is. It’s worrisome because it seems so have grown in size...
I got some pictures. It has grown in size. It looks like it could be a tumour. So now I’m not sure if there was a hole or if it could be the tumour that is leaking a fluid. It looks wet because I cleaned the area with some diluted hydrogen peroxide and then applied some castor oil on the neck...
Your right! It does seem to be higher than the crop. I will try to examine him further. Maybe that bump is a deformity and he has a hole in the esophagus 🤷♀️. I’ll check the beak but I don’t remember anything being abnormal with it. He eats and drinks normally but something is leaking.
Hi I’m looking for advice for my 7 week old bantam silkie chick.
I posted before -
He was 2-3 days old and looked like he was having issues swallowing. It did improve until I noticed a few days ago some slimy goo under his chin. I thought he just got into something while having his supervised...
Hello. I’m wondering if anyone is able to identify this worm. I’m perplexed with what it is and affects how I treat my hens.
I noticed movement in one of my hen cecal droppings so I picked her and 4 others that seemed likely to have them and began the 5 day safe guard treatment. .23 per pound...
Thanks. It will only be good for another week max. I wasn’t prepared to be mama and that was the available option. I have a XPEN they will soon spend most of their inside time in as well as a huge chicken tractor outside they can spend the day In as soon as appropriate.
The massage seemed...
It’s quite difficult to check! They are so tiny. I was able to give the crop a massage so hopefully that will help.
That’s their set up for now. I’ll usually add perches and mirrors however I was unprepared as I was hopeful the mom would raise them.
I’ll check the mouth. The probiotic powder is for humans however I’ve been using it with my birds for over 5 years.
The babies were hatched by a hen however another broody killed one and the mom got off and didn’t want to go back on. I brought them inside to raise that why I added a small...
I had some baby silkie bantems hatch 2 days ago and I just noticed one of the babies continually swallowing. It seems healthy otherwise. I’ve seen it eating and drinking and it’s not lethargic. It’s been a while since I have had chicks but I don’t think it’s normal.
They have electrolytes to...
I have not had a chance to make it to the pharmacy yet, but I mixed up some of the salt water and have been cleaning each eye (new cotton pad for each)(no double dipping either lol) and her eye is improving faster than with just the chamomile.
I know I can get a polysporin pink eye drops over...
Right?? If I remember correctly one of the reasons why they “banned” the medicine without a vet is they didn’t want people to just give the medicine blindly. The overwhelming majority of folks that have animals do their research before administering any type of treatment. It’s ridiculous 🤦♀️
I’ll go to the pharmacy and see if it’s available.
I did a search and there were like 3 places I could find that sell it however the delivery is a 3 week minimum and the medicine (and shipping) is at least $50 CAD and up
Do you know if those medicines are available at the pet store? I’m in Canada and it’s almost impossible to get most medications without seeing a vet.
I thought the pain medicine in like a triple ointment was bad for their hearts?
I’ll try the salt flush tonight!
Hi there, I have a female duck 3 years that has an eye issue. I’ve been flushing her eye with chamomile and using 2 drops of colloidal silver 1x per day (I need help and can only get it 1x) for the past week. It has improved slightly but not as much as I’d hope. I’m not sure if a polysporin...
